2010 D4 upper tailgate intermittently not opening |
|
Hi all,
Popped over from LZ as I think we’re a bit stumped with this one:
As above, upper tailgate randomly won’t open, with no sound from actuator. There’s no pattern that I can spot.
GAP IID says:
1. The handle microswitch is working.
2. A pulse is always sent to the actuator; sometimes it doesn’t arrive.
3. Tailgate ajar sensor is working.
Keyfob button fails to open the tailgate as well during the fault. Sometimes two beeps come from the dash.
I have identified the power wire to the actuator, and traced it across the hinge and into the rear seat area. No breaks.
I have replaced the battery and done a hard reset.
From a search on here, it seems the body control module is in the passenger side fusebox, and sends the tailgate open signal out from a FET, underneath the seat and on to the back. No relay involved, as far as I can see.
I need to find out where the tailgate open signal is lost. Is it easier to find the relevant pin on the BCM, or go under the front passenger seat to find connector 3007/8?
Could there be a BCM fault which requires a re-flash?
Cheers

Thanks, but as I say, no pulse arrives at the actuator during the fault.

No joy after replacing the actuator, I’m afraid. Any other suggestions?

Looks like I’m on my own with this one.

Thank you, but if you read my first post the tailgate switch signal is being received, according to GAP IID.
The actuator signal isn’t present at the connector under the front passenger seat, although the wiring from there to the actuator is intact, so it’s either the FET inside the BCM/CJB, or the wiring from it to the connector.
It looks like I need to remove the CJB.

I can't comment on what might be causing your problem, but if you want infor on removing the CJB then search under passenger sunroof drain on this forum. There are quite a few helpful hints/videos posted on this.
Good luck with getting it sorted
Cheers Gary
