Epb

Hi all I’m after any help you can give please. I have to replace the brake shoes on my d3 derek but having stripped old ones off easily enough. I just cannot get the big spring at the bottom on drivers side to engage is there something I’m doing wrong or just a wimp who has no strength?
Thanks for reading

Just lift the bottom of the shoes off their saddles so that they are closer together!!

Fit the spring and place one shoe back in its saddle, and then lever the other one against the tension with a small pry bar into it's saddle! Thumbs Up

Its a lot easier if you put the epb into mounting position using gap it goves you extra play in the hand brake cable

If you're having difficulty or in any doubt have a look in the Wiki for Bodseys brake bible.

It's important everything is put together correctly!

You say bar not seated yet I cannot make it go deeper into adjuster. I believe it’s across the where one is correct and other not the issue lies.

This part is not in, right the bar needs to move towards you.

I also think that your epb is pulling the brake cables too much forcing the shoes outwards, you wont get the drum back on even if you can get the spring back on.
You need soneone with diagnostics nearby who can put your epb into mounting mode

Thanks aja. I have a foxwell obd and it does have mount setting I will use it and also move bar. It should make a difference fingers crossed.
I have used bodsys brake bible and it is very good but if you read it the texts omits replacing the spring lol

Make sure the wedge adjuster’s are fully back as far as they will go, if not they will hold the shoe off.

Flack Thumbs Up

By towards me do you mean sticks out more from the shoe or down to next slot?
