Hello,
Yesterday I posted that I'm about to replace the rear brake pads and discs. I'm awaiting the parts and planning the job. It doesn't look too difficult, but I'm a bit confused when it comes to the parking brake and adjusting the shoes. I don't think I'll need to replace the shoes, as that was done by someone else only 2-3 years ago, but I see that I might have to back the shoes off a bit in order to remove the discs.
If I do have to back the shoes off, I know I'll then have to set them up again using the adjuster, tightening it and then winding it back 8 notches. My question is . . .
Given that the shoes have not been replaced, but have been adjusted, do I also need to go through this process where I drive at a certain speed and then apply the parking brake in order to bed them in?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Best wishes, Darren

I have recently adjusted my EPB shoes and did not bed them in. I am under the impression that this is for new shoes. (Old discs and old shoes)
However, with new discs it may help with pairing your old shoes with new discs. I can’t see what harm it would do. Craig.

never bedded in my new shoes when i have changed them, dont think about it too much just let the adjusters off fit the new discs then readjust the park brake although i would put a dab of grease on the back of the shoes where they contact the metal back plate just to be sure they move rather that rust onto the backplate, you dont need to remove them just lever them out a tiny bit and feed some grease onto the back plate with a thin piece of plastic /old credit card please excuse any grammer/punctuation mistakes,i'm thick, thankyou
