Failed LEDs in D4 tail light.
Hello everyone, I wasn't sure whether to post this on the D3 or D4 section. I have D4 lights on a D3 🙄. So as the title says, I have 3 LEDs failed in one side. Not all in a line but distributed in different positions. This is on the side light ring, not the brake light part. I know it's not of huge importance to some, but it's an OCD thing. My question is can the rear light be cracked open and do you think it will seal properly once put back together? I'm not great at soldering ( never was at school either ) and never needed it since. At a push I can ask out fitter at work to solder the LEDs in for me. I don't really want to have to buy a new cluster as I'm about to pay out for new brakes all round and possible gearbox flush.
Actually talking about brakes. ... EPB has started screeching, but not so if in raised height. Will be adjusting the EPB when doing all discs and pads.
Thanks in advance for advise again.Mods:

I have a pack of Led strips, they have either 6 or 9 in a row. Think I bought them years ago for some mood lighting idea in a Pajero I was going to play with.Mods:

may be worth contacting powerful UK.
I think they do replacement LED modules for the early RR (did I dream that)
However, if its not easy to get inside the D4 light, then they probably don't offer them

Please update us on how you get on. I have the same issue. Keen to see pictures of the insides if you get it open!
I noticed you can get replacement later d4 style dark lenses for the rear light, so maybe there is an option to destructively remove the old lens and get an upgraded look once the led repair is done. PowerfulUK advise in their ebay ad that these lenses can't be fitted to the older style lights but maybe they in fact can, possibly involving a dremel. You can get the rear lenses for $110 the pair delivered on AliExpress

I suspect the AliE ones are just to stick on the outside of your existing light ?
Eg a thin cover
I could be wrong though.

Hi
Out of curiosity on the D4 lights , did they come with a separate side light and reversing light bulb being separate from the Led section , therefore not requiring the disassembly of the light plse
Im more than likely got that wrong

Seeing the ukrainain flags here all over the forum, may be worth considering that when looking around
Buying “local” may also get you better support

Failed LEDs in D4 tail light.
Just wait til you get failed LEDs in the upper brake light, it’ll then make you feel like this isn’t really a big issue at all.
In short - lump Hammer, narrow bolster chisel, tiger seal, £100+ light Unit …… and a lot of nerve!
