Dpf and MOT

Hi guys
First and foremost I must say that the response I've gotten from the members here is super, quick answers and nice people.

My question is how hard is it to remove the dpf or remove the innards of the dpf.
My aim is to to a physical dpf delete but don't know which is the easiest way. It's already removed from the ecu.
Another question would be if the dpf is visible for the MOT.
if not, maybe a downpipe is better option?

IIRC a physical check for the DPF is part of the MoT procedure.
If it is not found then it should be an automatic failure.

So it's a visible check only?

I think there is a smoke test too. They rev it to max for a short burst and measure the smoke particles. I think a modern vehicle with a dpf should be clean. I reckon you might get caught out even if you do rip the guts out.

Well then the question is, is it easy to remove the innards of the dpf at home with the right tools?

Remove the dpf from the car or do it when it's on the car?

Remove DPF, cut hole, rip the innards out, weld cut piece back on. Cut from the top, sonit won't show. Fit heat shield, no questions asked.
But whether or not it's legal, the fine will probably be hefty. It is where I live.

Then I'll remove the dpf and cut the innards out.

Thanks for the tip mate!
The fine is hefty in Sweden as well but since I now know that MOT doesn't control the dpf system, the only thing they do is to see if it's there(if the car isn't covered by alot of plastic like my bmw f11)

Just to clarify, are you trying to get through a UK MOT test or a Swedish bilbesiktning?

If it's the latter just bear in mind that the responses you've had have been predominantly from UK people talking about the UK MOT test. Personally I'd be checking what the bilbesiktning DPF test is looking for.

The Swedish bilbesiktning never ever checks the dpf function.
Ive had several diesels and they never ever checked the dpf function.
They only look for fault codes and in my case there is none.
I'm just wondering if the dpf on my disco is visible or not.
I'm thinking about just replacing it with a downpipe....
