Defender wheels fitted today

Found some bargain defender wheels near by, thought I’d give them a go, see if they fit.

They do. Perfectly on a MY12 sdv6 HSE.

I’m still making my mind up regarding the colour or if I should get them powder coated black.

But so much more sidewall. And about a 1” lift (old tyres were undersized at 275/45r20)

They fit, very close on full lock in access height, but doesn’t rub. Everything else fits perfectly. They’ve got the defender 255/70r18 Michelin tyres fitted. Working on some AT tyres next (or side steps for the kids as I’ve made the car taller)

An update on this for anyone interested.

There is tyre rub using the original defender tyre size. This is only when lowered, or on full lock.

I will be swapping to 265/65/18 and will update on these.

Not horrendous. I can take some pictures.

And certainly not during normal
Driving, just manoeuvres at slow speed.

Certainly hasn’t put me off using them.

So I got some defender wheels and they came with 255/60/20s. they fill the arches nicely but I'm also getting a bit of rub on the end of (what looks like) the chassis leg on full lock of the steering.

I had the Defender Landmark alloys previously and they had the 275/45/20 AT Grabbers on them, they went on to a Disco3 no problem.

Not sure now whether to change the tyres, or go with spacers. Confused

Look at the rubbing on mine I’m not sure wheel spacers would work.

Your last tyre size was the same as mine, 29.7” overall diameter.

The new ones are 32”.

Most off-roading sites say that 265/65/18 is the biggest size without modifications, at 31.6”. I’m guessing that .4” is enough to make the difference.

I’m sticking with the rubbing for now, get some monies worth out of the tyres.
