Had a crack at this today and after an hour of two hairdryers I only managed about 2mm of movement before finally giving up. Mine's an 09 and am wondering whether they are made slightly differently.The idea of putting adaptive headlights in the oven is too scary so I gave up.

Take the plunge mate !
Headlights are the same from late 2004 to Sept 2009 (when it became the D4)
I am not found of the oven technique, the air dryer one works perfectly, be insistant.
Now that you have moved it 2mm, you know you can do it, just a bit more time, and work around the headlight, not spot by spot.
Takes a while, but well worth it.

No same design and build, hair dryers do not really have the power, I used a hot air paint stripping gun.
You need a good 20 mins working all around the lens seal to get all the glue sticky before you start to pull them apart, the initial pull to start separation is the hard part, start at one end the end where the lens has the extra plastic to grip, you'll need to be wearing gloves as the glue will be hot and can burn you if you're not careful Altox GSM FBH controller thread

Just keep at it. I used a hair dryer but it must be a good one. I wore the daughters hair dryer out but once I had SWMBO's good hair dryer at it it was much better !

Done mine yesterday, I used a hot air gun on the lowest setting, still took a while to get the adhesive to soften properly though.
One small point worth noting, is that when you rebuild the light, the 2 screws that held the amber section to the clear lens cover will now be a couple of mm too long as they were originally meant to have the amber section inbetween them and the lens cover. I cut a few mm of them, but you could always put a few washers under the screw head. Just don't tighten the screws all the way down without modifying it otherwise you might crack the fixing on the cover

Went out and bought a hot air gun and it made a massive difference. Light one was difficult but so much easier with the hot air gun. Light two took 45 mins and that included phaffing around with black stickers to get the look I was after. So, it's official, there is no orange on my Disco anymore and I love it even more. As for the pictures, well they're here on my Mac and all I need to do is fathom how to get them on here.
I've hated the orange since the day I bought my disco but couldn't stomach the extra 10k for a 4. Now I have the best of both worlds.

I'm leaving mine alone so my standard orange lights will be super rare and worth a fortune on Ebay in five years or so when it's back in fashion
