what sort of vehicle are you thinking of taking there? Despite the cost of living, it remains as popular as ever!

I think Slindon is a bit more entertaining, but it depends how capable your sj410 is.
If you have slick tyres on ... you wont get far at this time of year. You need a good set of muds. There are plenty of ruts that you just wont get out of otherwise.
Also, some of the "holes" have very deep ruts covered by equally deep water .... so expect a wet bum if you go in there!
Unfortunately, there are parts of Slindon that are no-go unless you have a winch.
But there is plenty to play on, and a new hole was recently dug in the "sandy" car park area which is quite good fun in all weathers.
Boxgrove mud is ticker and sticker and at times the entrance / car-park can be a bit of a challenge!
I dont think the terrain is quite so challenging but considering I managed to kill a brand new clutch in about 1/2 day might suggest otherwise 
I dont go to the pay 'n play days any more as not all the people who turn up are 100% sane. The AWDC uses both these sites, so usually go with them instead ...... much more sensible day out Despite the cost of living, it remains as popular as ever!

ok thanks what about for D3's/4's? would they come back with huge scratchs down the sides or is it non-damaging?

It can be done in a d3 ... but you can't go near the fun stuff otherwise you will lose bits, bends bits and get very very stuck. It's the crunching noises coming from underneath that I hate!
I just use the d3 to tow in/out of the sites and carry the jet-washer! Despite the cost of living, it remains as popular as ever!
