EPB is broken!!

Just wondered if anyone could help. Having recently moved to North Yorkshire (nr Ampleforth) - my D3 (57) has finally given up on its EPB

It has made a very small noise when put on and off - for a while now (certainly not a squeal!) but last Saturday it decided to emit its first squeal. This stopped the D3 in its tracks and r only way I could resolve was to head into the manual release

Now the light is on and I'm currently using the auto's park...

Strangely last week on a run down south (first long drive in 5months) - the car started vibrating - as if we had moved to a different road surface- this meant I had to slow down to 40mph until it seemed to resolve itself and we carried on

Can anyone tell me if the two are related? And secondly any suggestions for what to do to resolve the EPB. I have limited access to either equipment to do it myself or even time to get to my local Indy in York. Help????

Any thoughts genuinely welcomed......

Sounds identical to mine. First thing first is the vibration, mine was caused by the handbrake pads seizing on. This was caused by the arm attached to the pads rusting up, this basically meant the pads did not release properly causing them to drag and heat up. This made the bind more and cause the vibration.
Not sure why this made the EBP over extend it it did. The end result was the internals seized so after I freed off the brakes and then adjusted them correctly the EPB was still jammed. This resulted in me having to remove the EPB unit to strip it down to free it off. I just have to find the time to fit it all back on the car again.... Fingers crossed!

Oh and it was my nearside one that had seized, I suspect this could be downtown getting more crap init from the road gutters

Thanks Guys

Appreciate the help - now for the tough bit!!

How much do you realistically think I can manage - I'm pretty capable with most things but this is something I'm not too keen to do wrongly!! What would you say a local Indy should charge to help sort it?

I can get access to an area to work on the Disco but I'm gonna need a fair few of the tools you mention in the Bible

Again advice welcomed?
