1st off road experience in the D3....
Had a great day out today with a fellow d3 owner at Briercliffe (near burnley).
I was very impressed with how the D3 coped in bad conditions with road tyres on! The traction control is superb and neither of us got stuck at all today even though there was mud everywhere and it was throwing it down!
Another thing I am very impressed with is how the front grill clips off, enabling you to place some lumps of cardboard/rubber in front of the radiator to try to reduce the muck getting into the engine bay and clogging the rad - very well designed.
I was a little worried at first (my last 2 land rovers where 300TDI defenders), but now I am fully confident in the D3's off road capability. If it can play like that with road tyres on, I cannot wait to see what she can do with some mud terrains on her....
Here are a couple of pics, although it wasn't very comfortable getting pics whilst it was blowing a gale and throwing it down!

Excellent pics - though I'd hazard a guess that they've not been shown in chronological order Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Being the driver of the black D3 I have to say the D3 is amazing, my tyres are almost worn out and the thing just went everywhere I pointed it. I would recommend Briercliffe for a great day out to anyone. And yes they did need a good wash !

I've done Briercliffe in my 2a, in the snow, and it is a fantastic site. Looks like you had a great day. We camped there in the snow, nearly froze to death 8)

Here is the website of the people that organise the day, its usually once a month http://www.4x4funday.co.uk/
If there is some interest, for the next one we could meet at junction 12 of the M65 and I can show you the way. It would be fun for a load of D3's to show up mob handed....
