Actually.....this is the reason most folk are on here...they have their D3....like their D3 or even Love their D3.....to the point they read & learn all they can to understand it & try to keep their D3/D4 good. BREXIT - done properly.

If there has never been an issue, can somebody give a definitive answer as to why Landrover felt the need to "revise" the removable towbars description to "occasional" use only and the nose weight limit to 150kg (330lb) ?

The odd thing is that the noseweight specification for the D3 \ 4 has always been 150kg's for both the detachable and multi height bars 
The distinction between permanent and occasional towing has not been made that I can find ...though it does make sense to distinguish between someone who tows a dozen or so times per year and every day. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Now that's strange if, as you say, the noseweight limit was always 150kg, as according to the "official" supplement that you posted, Landrover themselves say "revised noseweight limit" ??? Also if the limit was always 150kg for both towbars, why are they now saying if you want to tow with a heavier noseweight, a "suitable towbar system is available" without giving any details/weights. Also worth remembering its not just the towbars that would have had to be rated, the socket on the crossmember would also have to be rated for a specific load.
Seriously, what I am trying to find out is what made Landrover decide to declare that the noseweight limit had been "revised" and also to declare that the removable bar was now only suitable for "occasional" towing. They would not have just decided on a whim to change it, something must have prompted it, my question is what was that something ?

If you've got the removable type though and got it years ago and its now been found to not be upto the job is it not possible that LR should be offering the fitment of the proper towbar setup, aka multi-height fixed?
IE if someone had a 2005-2012 Disco and got removable but was towing a decent amount with it and now LR are saying its unsuitable for that but the point was made clear at the POS then the case could be argued that the goods are now no longer of satisfactory quality by the makers own standards and thus need rectifying.
Just thinking out loud here but im sure 1 or two have reported detachables detaching on their vehicles and if thats the case LR are accountable i'd imagine.. FFRR Owner, very nearly became a D3 owner

That was one of the questions I asked when this debate first started when Character first warned people to check their towbars for play. That particular thread just lost the plot, so I gave up trying to get some sensible discussion going.
When I bought my towbar I was undecided about the removable one or the fixed one, but after speaking to the salesman and him assuring me both bars were rated the same ie, weight limits, frequency of use etc etc, I decided to go for the removable one.
When I checked mine after Characters warning, the amount of play was shocking so I changed to a TowTrust towbar instead and always meant to speak to Pentland LR about this, but never got around to it.
I don't want to spark off another heated "my towbar is fine so yours cant possibly have any play in it" debate, what I would like to know is why LR decided to "revise" the noseweight limit and why they decided the removable bar is now only for "occasional" use. There has to be a reason for that decision, what is that reason ?
Hopefully Liam will ask the question for me
