Denmark 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Auto Java BlackDiscovery 3
Transmission.

I am a new owner of a Discovery 3, and I am very happy. It has a little noise - from the transmission I think. Its sounds a little like a generator which accellerates, but only i 1-3 gear when I accellerate.

Does anybody know, if something is wrong ?

Km: 68.000
automatic gearbox
2,7 TD

Do You think it can be the noise from the gearshifter, when it accellerates to shift the gear. If I acc. up a hill the noise is louder.

If it is louder under load or throttle it coud be the front diff perhaps. To be honest the fact that you have concerns about the noise means it's time to visit the dealers. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I think the noise comes from the direction of the gearbox. The noise only last for about 2 sec.. It is only possible to hear it, because the engine is so quiet.

I have visited the dealer, and had him to listen. He heard it and said, that he didnt know where the sound came from, but that it wasnt anything seriously. Calle - disguised as adult.
