Turbo Boost Air Solenoid

Had to call out LR Assistance today as red triangle and Restricted Performance message. Whistle or turbo whine could be heard on acceleration. Big Cry Thankfully although it was 6pm it was a Land Rover tech that arrived - within 55 minutes and spot on time.

He found fault codes P006A-00, P1247-00, P00BD-07 and P0235-94.

The result was a clean of the shaft on the solenoid valve. Thumbs Up

Has this happened to anyone else and did it reoccur - if so was it a replacement solenoid.

Yes, had this happen on a customers car. The solenoid was full of oil, a common issue if you don't drive it hard every now and then, apparently.

Cleaned the valve, refitted, advised customer. This was 3 months ago, and has been back for other issues, but not this one again Thumbs Up

FWIW, there was a TSB issued for these codes. Maybe worth a look Thumbs Up

Thanks for the info - Will get it booked in when we are back home, unless more urgent repairs are needed if it happens again today.

It happened after 130 mile trip down the motorway.

Well no further warning lights or messages since LR Assist carried out the temporary repair on Monday.

But strange thing is, the on board display is showing a 3 mpg improvement now and I am sure the car is more responsive.

where is the valve as it sounds like I may have the same problem. If I can find it I can clean it and give it a try.

It was dark when the LR Assist man came, so didn't actually see the part but ihe put car in high suspension , full right hand lock and then removed a small plastic cover which I think was lying vertical to the bottom of the inner wing at the very front edge. On the off side of the car.

Perhaps someone else can describe it better Thumbs Up

Thanks for the info.

It was raining a lot yesterday and the garage is full of my sons cars so I took it to the dealer to see if he thought it was the valve.
He thought it was and they gave me a car for the day then fixed mine.
Job now done must have been a quick one to fix as the car was ready after lunch.

Edit

Cost was £260 inc VAT
Part was LR033284 Kit - Actuator Shut
@ hrs Charged for.

Is that official LR guidance? Because if it is, I'd like to point my gf to that and smile smugly the next time she moans at me for ragging it a bit Smile

Thanks for this! I've just freed mine after having been trying unsuccessfully to get the car to heal itself all afternoon.
