What about your tyres, age, brand, model and pressures, front to back?

Edit: sorry just seen the earlier post but might be worth bumping up the pressures?

Sidestick - sorry not sure quite what you mean by 'steering wheel rods'
Re Tyres, from a few posts back

regarding tyres, I have General Grabber AT 255/60 18" on it since the summer, pressures are 33F 36R. However I have had GG GTs and Pirellis amongst others in the past so I know how the feel differs and this is nothing like it.

Hi Andy,
There is a cross link function in the valves front and rear, hence the name cross link valves. They allow for corner levelling and anti roll at low speeds on roundabouts etc.
There is a chance of them sticking if the gunk from old desiccant contaminates them.

Having opened a valveblock and cleaned it out I wouldn't describe the dessicant as gunk, it's a very fine powder that spoils the seal but doesn't 'glue' the valve shut. It's not a difficult job, by all means go ahead and open one out but it won't be glued shut...

Richie, RBS6K brought his IID tool round today and we did some extensive checks and comparison between the two vehicles. He may elaborate, as he was messin with it for a good while today on my Disco, but it seems like the compressor looks to be doing its job properly, gallery pressure rises to around 17 bar then the mid valve closes when heights are correct and pressure stayes around 2.8 Bar when driving.

Need to do a drive and check (hadn't time to load app on phone fully and test before hometime) but ride felt the same as before, i.e side to side rocking seems excessive.

He lent me the IID toolit for a few days, (Thanks Richie! -you can do diagnostic stuff without registering the VIN to the unit), so any tips on test procedure to help diagnose the problem appreciated.

No worries.. use the live values option and pick suspension. Pick the height, pressure and cross links and record a drive. Then play it back and see if there is excessive valve opening and closing. That's about all you can look for.

I did a drive about 8 miles and saved the log, none of the valves opened at all according to the data.

Gallery Pressure was 2.0 Bar and slowly dropped according to the graph towards 0, although if you look at the live values I don't recall it dropping to 0

If you raise the car the gallery pressure rapidly rises to 28 bar or more and it raises within s0 seconds or so.

That sounds a bit high I would have thought...... 17 ish bars is normal for the compressor to cut out at. If it is dropping below 2 bar then something is leaking as the compressor should cut in before it drops that low.

When you were checking geometry, did you check the rears? Inner track arms and top wishbone bushings are known to wear....

Yeah i was mis-remembering! Thinking about it 17 sounds about right, hard to watch and drive!!
I had it set to Pascals first and now have it on Bar, got a bit confused and the high figure was a bit of a guess!

The rear bushings and track rod ends were all checked by David Kelly indie LR and he says they are OK. the rear drop links were changed though. Got four wheel tracking done

Last night I finally got around to pulling F3 (the suspension controller fuse) to see if any side sank - it didnt!
So it doesn't seem to be an external air leak anyway.
Wondering what to check next. Valve assemblies?

United Kingdom 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Manual Adriatic BlueDiscovery 3

Hi, I had problems with wallowy ride last year. Problem was two things, slight play in steering column which allowed the steering to drift slightly, plus an intermittent electrical fault due to a corroded wheel height sensor wire. The wiring fault wasn't detectable whilst the vehicle was standing still, but watching the live data on a scanner whilst driving showed a really erratic height signal from one wheel only. This was sending the height module into overdrive, and making the nose of the car dip lower than intended, and putting the geometry out.

Fixing these transformed it instantly, and it's now handles like a lamboughini (tractor)...! Just like new then! Sam

Cheers for the info Sam.
I did suspect something like that, but I have monitored the corner valves whil edriving, and they dont seem to open at all. I did a shortish drive recently hoping to see if there was any sign of opposing heights that may indicate a leaking cross valve, as can be seen from the attached graph, nothing stands out.
Anyone care to comment on this graph? The places where the heights vary the most was while turning a left hand corner

edit: the pic is a bit blurry after uploading, the colour key is as follows:
Front left is red
Front right is blue
Rear left is green
Rear right is brown
Gallery pressure is purple

Hi, what units is the horizontal axis labelled as? In my case the errors were split second failures in the broken wire to the front right wheel height sensor. I only found it by recording the same data you have while the car was static, and working round the car shaking the wiring loom until there was a change in reading on the graph. When I moved the loom under the radiator, the sensor voltage went of the chart!!!!! That indicated the problem for me, and I cut the loom open to find to broken wires with bad corrosion that was affecting the wheel height sensor resistance, and tricking the controller. Sam

The horizontal axis is in seconds, the darker numbers are 5 s intervals, the whole section is 28 seconds. The vertical axis is in 10mm sections (dark lines).
I'll try the static test wiggling the looms, although I don't think its the problem in my case, as the corner valves are not opening at all while driving
