Warranty direct !! Do you think this is right?

Hi

Front wishbones shot, need replacing. Car in the garage so they ring warranty direct and give them the run down. No problem say warranty direct that's covered. We will give you 2 claim numbers 1 per side, that means they are trying to get me to pay my excess twice as its 2 claims!!

My view is its one trip to the garage = one job, it's not as if I have claimed and had one side done and a week later claiming again.

I'm going to ring them up tomorrow but thought I'd see what you guys thought.

Thanks

Mark

Don't see the problem, it's 2 things that have failed isn't it? And if your turbo had failed at the same time/same visit are you saying that should be on the same excess?

I'd be a bit annoyed. I had exactly this job done and paid one excess. I'd take it up with customer services.

If it was 2 excesses of the same part I'd be annoyed but it's 2 parts that happened to have failed (or been disgnosed) at the same. If 2 x bearings need replaced then it's two excesses, or a turbo and gearbox diagnosed on the sane visit, just part of the joys of running a Disco out of manufacturer's warranty.

I think my tact here with WD would be to ask whether they would advocate just one side being replaced?

Now I'm not sure so will leave it to one of the real techies on here to advise but I would imagine for safety and stability LR would advise that both sides need to be replaced at the same time...hence this would be ONE job.

Although i understand the point being made I don't think comparing this situation with a simultaneous gearbox and turbo failure as being the same.

Hope you get it sorted...I think they're just trying their luck.

Paul

I am with WARRANTY WISE - just has 2 wishbones replaced and compressor, they have declined all repairs even though I have wear and tear on policy, saying if one had gone, they would have paid out, but because both went,it's unusual wear and tear

Not a good warranty company.

Colin,
That's ridiculous! They either fail or not, it's not unusual wear and tear, it's all failure. I'd be having a serious discussion with them! Thumbs Up

I guess you get a claim split into 2 (one per side - it's what I had) with Warranty Direct or .... you get no claim at all ala Warranty Wise

Had exactly the same claim through W.D. and they made it into 2 claims and 2 excesses. They also won't pay for any bolts, nuts, brackets, pipes, bushes etc. which are needed during installation. They will only pay for the wishbone as a complete part supplied by Land Rover.

Confused Sorry to disagree but in my case WD coughed for all bushes, bolts etc - no quibble. Probably down to how your garage described the fault. Confused

T'was done at a main dealer and all part numbers including bolts etc were spec'd on the bill.

W.D. went through each part number and refused to pay for anything other than the wishbones.

Sounds like you were lucky .... or I was unlucky?

The invoice listed all part numbers, only 'discussion' I had was the amount if time allowed but that soon disappeared once I advised them of the LR RTS. Whistle

More to the point how did you end up up an excess on the policy?

They usually waive if asked at policy inception.
