Taken out Warranty Direct policy. Haven't had to claim yet, six weeks in, but I'm glad to have the peace of mind.D1 300Tdi - gone

Took out 3yr LR extended warranty when I bought D3 second hand - cost upfront was c.£2.5k
Payouts over 3 years exceeded £12k so well happy with the outcome
Guess that in addition to luck it also depends on your annual mileage and use - I do 30-40k per year so guess that may mean that failures are more likely than someone who does (say) <10k
Now I've passed the 150k mark unable to get a warranty so feeling very exposed Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE

Ive never taken a warranty out on anything ever, cars white goods you name it, if it breaks I fix it, but I tend to find if you look after stuff maintenance wise it doesnt really go wrong often.
If you can diy you will literally be quids in.

Not recognising what a fluctuating rev counter meant, I bought the car then had a Mega flush when I heard what it did mean.
6 months later, dead gearbox! That cost to fix as usual.Dave
