Yellow warning triangle restricted performance

Never a dull day..... got his error come up yesterday , comes and goes. Restricted performance warning. However car runs fine , not limping along ? Gave the MAF sensors a wee clean out . Will need codes read I suppose so will have to book into the indie .

Hi Ali1971
Let me know how you get on with this, I had exactly the same happen to me today. No loss of power etc however it did go out once I'd lock it up then reopened it 30 minutes later??

Still happening, not booked it in yet to get looked at however cleaning the MAF sensors didn’t work , going to have a look at the fuel sensor at the filter. Apparently if water gets in it can throw some Wobblies. Still drives fine and when it does come up it clears once you switch off for a few minutes. Did wonder about dodgy fuel but that’s two tanks I’ve gone through now so don’t think it was that.

the other issue could be a crack in the manifold.. NOT uncommon alas..

A wee search will throw up some more info.

Restricted Performance warning, but without any loss in Performance, is usually a faulty fuel filter housing

Can be confirmed by fault codes

Faulty fuel filter apparently, either expired or water in it?? All changed , shall see what happens.

Update 2 days later , the fault has appeared again Whistle will give the garage a phone I think we might be looking at the actual housing as mentioned earlier ! They did check the manifolds etc when it was in and no cracks !?

Just to also note there were no stored codes. It clears , however I did take it in with the fault lit and a code was present but no idea what that was ? I shall ask when I arrange to take it in.

Ok so garage is going to quote me for a new housing. However they also mentioned poor fuel? It’s been
Through several tanks since this fault appeared. So not convinced it’s that Question . How hard is it to change the fuel sensor housing on the drive if that was an option ?

Mine has been doing it for about 8 months now. Only does it from a warm start, never cold start. One day it actually came up on dash "water in fuel". IID tool says water in fuel sensor but never got round to doing it. What sort of job is it to do?

Finally done this job on mine, part has been on back order for 6 weeks. To answer my own question about how hard to do this job? Answer, a lot harder than it needs to be Censored . Basically the filter housing is a few mm bigger than the gap it needs to come out off, the pipes are at the side with least access and as with most things on these cars it could have been so much simpler. Anyhoo, its changed now so hopefully my random "restricted performance/water in fuel" messages will be a thing of the past. Have left undertray off so I can can check for leaks Rolling with laughter

It helps if you remove the filter before taking out the Fuel filter housing because the housing is taller than the gap, this way you can bend the housing with a large tyre leaver to get it out.
