There used to be a few websites you could go to and add an email address to a mailing list. That address would then be bombarded with millions of SPAM emails to the point the host would shut it down. If you find an email address in use, just do that out of spite.

I too have fallen victim to these b Censored ds . Saw a set of d4 landmark wheels in mint condition. Did all the usual checks etc. Assured me the wheels were genuine etc. Said i coukd either go in and pay or via bank transfer. Nowt turned up. Wheels were 600 quid which was cheap. Santander investigated but i didnt get anything back. Be warned!

A bad man is at his worst when he pretends to be a good man. In this case it seems the rogue was well rewarded for very little effort.

I recently received more than £6k via bank transfer from someone I have never met or spoken to. I completed the transaction as agreed and both parties satisfied. In my main occupation this is a common occurrence, although usually smaller amounts.

Occasionally, buyers prefer to use a third party (escrow service). I have used Transpact many times and I highly recommend the service, even for relatively small amounts. With builders, ongoing works and significant purchases this can avoid a lot of grief.

Funds are clearly available, and released when promises are matched by actions. Managing escrow does not take much effort and cost of Transpact is small.

And never, ever, ever pay by bank transfer. At last with credit card you have some routes to get your money back.

I've bought and sold off FB. WOrks OK when the buyer can actually go to the seller's home / premises. But I'd never buy off FB remotely. Fleabay, for all its faults, is much the best option for that.

I’m not being funny here, it’s because of people like yourself who are rightly out for a bargain but didn’t really check that it was genuine.

I’d also recommend to never buy anything off Facebook and only use a reputable company. I buy small items first to “test” the waters with the company before I buy big.[/b]

Tow Bar from Yorkshire Commercials Ltd

I was just about to but that towbar. Fortunately HSBC asks to verify the bank details and "Yorkshire Commercials Ltd" didn't come up. So I check on companies how to see that it was dissolved 19th Jan 2021.

The add, like other have commented, was posted from from a chap in Reading Davie Wilde who I messaged, he said he was out on a recovery and one of the lads from the office would call me back. I look up his profile and also noticed the £600 set of alloys (that Carpyian tried to buy, comment in previous post.) Paul from the office rang and I gave him my email address and he forwarded me an invoice. I was about to pay but thought it started looking a bit odd! Pleased I saved my cash!

...doses anyone genuinely have a detachable towbar for sale?

Somobody raised a case against them on a court? I've also been scammed by them with a Vauxhall Vivaro Engine, report them to bank and police , but no change to recover the money. Now I see they are dealing with Land Rover parts.

Yorkshire Commercial Breakers Ltd no longer exists

9 Jan 2021 Final Gazette dissolved via compulsory strike-off

The most likely reason for a compulsory strike-off is no company accounts have been filed, which probably means that no accounts have been submitted to HMRC

Since the limited company has been dissolved it is my understanding that the company can no longer trade as Yorkshire Commercial Breakers Ltd. However it would be legal for Kevin Ridgway to trade as Yorkshire Commercial Breakers or as any other phenix company.

Please do your own research before parting with reasonable size of cash.

Companies house is a good start, look at people and what other companies they are associated with.

We were approached by a unknown company to ourselves, a quick check showed that the CEO was 25 in May, had 2 companies compulsory struck off, one in process of being struck off plus current company. Red flag alert

Check VAT number

Do they have a geographical landline number?

Do they have a physical address?

Street view is their physical address a private house or a commercial address? If commercial address does it have the right company name om it
