19" Tyres 255/55/19
I've been lookign at the forum or a while now but am still confused as to the tyre options available for the 19" 255/55/19.
It looks like the options available are:
1) Goodyear Wrangler HP AW
2) Pirelli Scorpion Zero
3) Micehlin Lattitude Sport
Costco have a good deal at the moment for Michelin, but the Latitude Sport seems to be very road biased. From reading reports here it seems that people really like the Pirelli but they seem to wear quite quickly. The Good year seems to wera better but is quite noisy - especially as they are down to about 3mm tread on the tyres.
So that's the conundrum - I do about 85% motorway/A roads driving and the rest isgreenlanes/off road/grass fields.
The Michelin seems to be very road biased and Costco can't now do the Synchrone or the Latitude Tour, and I suppose I want a combination of the Pirelli/Goodyear.
Anyone have any ideas or thoughts?

Think in your case I would agree with Ken, my only issue is the price, bit on the high side.
They should last longer than the Scorpion's.
Still waiting on news about the General AT2 in 19", may know more next week with a little luck.

Pirelli ATR?????
Not heard much about them - are they good for lots of miles and also good for a bit of off road?
Had AT2's on my Disco 2 - very impressed and lasted ages. How does the Pirelli ATR stack up against them?

ATR's will beat the AT"'s 19's hands down at the mo because there aint such a tyre yet

Not seen the Scorpion ATRs anywhere - please can you let me know where they can be bought?
EDIT: found some but they are H rated? I thought the D3 had to be V rated?

I am in the process of getting a off road set, but had a look at the ATRs yesterday, and the tread pattern does not look aggressive enough. First prize would be GY MTR's, but that is at a 40% premium over the Pirelli's here in OZ.
I can also not find any reference to side wall thinkness. Any ideas?

ATR's by their nature will not have the same aggressive pattern as a MTR
Wall thickness is way better than standard but not up to MTR

As you can see in the picture which Ken has very kindly taken of the ATR it's not as open as the AT2, but as he quite rightly states at present AT2 is not yet available in 19". Fingers crossed after the meeting next week there may be some news on a 19" AT2, I really do think this tyre would be very much in demand.
I quite like the ATR, but as I said I think it's over priced and not enough of an improvement over the Scorpion as regards to the tread pattern. Yes, sidewalls are slightly stronger, tread life longevity shoud be a lot better than the Scorpion. Time will tell.
I have to say that the more I talk to my customers with D3's on their tyre choices, it's very much a mixed bag. At the end of the day it's "your" choice, and as they say "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink"
What we all need is a series of buttons on the dash with all the tyre options, so all you have to do is press the one you want, technology is moving on in leaps and bounds but me thinks it's going to be a long, long time befor that happens.
This thread will keep on bouncing back which is a good thing, as the more you read from more people the better, but will confuse lots.
As a tyre supplier I can only advise, and help you with your tyre choices if asked.

So it looks like there are four options for a tyre that doesn't need to be mud rated:
1) Pirelli Scorpion PZero
2) Pirelli Scorpion ATR
3) Good Year Wrangler HP AW
4) Michelin Latitude Sport
Looks like from this list there are 2 ATR tyres and two road biased tyres.
So to narrow down both options - which ATR tyre offers the best combination of grip and lengevity and which road thyre also offers the best combination? Obviuosly based on peoples usage with these tyres!

2) ATR All day long running them on the FF on 19's I do a mix of Road and Fields in the FF 8 shoots so far and no issues
You get what you pay for If you go to Andy see the ATR off the Rim you will see just how the structure is way better than the other three

Thanks Ken. I agree that their tread pattern won't be as aggressive as the MTR, but are much closer to the Zero that for argument sake the AT2's. How do the ATR handle off road where Zero's would normaly be problematic.
