2016 D4-Cambelt
Morning all,
My car is approaching her 7th birthday in March with just short of 80,000 on the clock. My question is do I need to have the belts changed then or can I wait till August 20th when she is due a yearly service. I already do a 6mth oil and filter change.
Some mistakes are to good to only make once.

You won’t save much money by delaying the belt change
But their is a chance (probably small) that you will incur a very large cost should a belt let go
And wouldn’t the vehicle be going in soon for your six monthly oil service ?Illegitimi Non Carborundum

I do the 6mth oil change myself. The cambelts are not something I want to tackle.Some mistakes are to good to only make once.

The official JLR service info is 112k miles or 7yrs which ever comes first. guessing I would worry more about the former rather than the latter for causing a failure. so down to your choice !
Would say though even if it had to go in just for the cambelt You wont save anything by waiting as the time it takes is the same . Just one thing to think about is the belt kits have been difficult to obtain in the recent past so maybe thinking about it soon may mean you actually are on top of that as you dont want to end up using an inferior belt just because its all you can get and thats not a compromise you should even contemplate with such a critical part.

In the great scheme of things, it's highly unlikely that a 5 month delay, especially with less than average mileage will be a problem. The chances of a belt failing aren't great. Especially as the LR quoted limits on time and mileage won't be getting you anywhere near the limits of the belt's life in reality.
However there is of course a very small chance of disaster and so, unless you've got a good enough reason to delay, (not enough spare cash perhaps or something) I'd just get it done.

Thank you for the replies. Booked the car in for the work on 27th Feb. Price for timing belt, rear belt and auxiliary belt plus a coolant flush and refill is £1062.00 Not that bad to be fair. I will service the car when I get it back.Some mistakes are to good to only make once.

Mine is due for belts. (Only 33k miles, but it is now just a touch over 7 years old)
Is 1k thereabouts the usual price? What work does this involve? Body off job? How many labour hours typically?

Hi,
an alternative view point is dont do your 6 months oil change but bring the service forward and get that done with your belt change and may be think about have a trip to Scotland to get it done
you could even have a couple of days in a B&B and break even
edit just noticed the date of your posts and you had it done yesterday
