2016 D4 Landmark vs Graphite |
|
Hi! I am looking for a 2016 D4.
I wonder what are the differences between Graphite and Landmark. Here are some of my finding and questions:
1) Landmark has monitor for 2nd row; I think that's not important
2) Landmark has 825W Meridian while Graphite has 425W Meridian. Is that a big different?
3) Landmark has rear heated seat.
4) Any differences in leather quality of the seats?
Any significant difference? As I know the price difference when new is GBP9K, that sounds a lot. My budget is about 27-28K, which can get me a lower mileage Graphite or a fair mileage Landmark. I wonder if I should seek for Landmark or Graphite, Any advice?

Landmark will have more 'Toys'
seats will have the same leather but more likely to be electric and memory on the Landmark.
Will have heated steering wheel as well although I can never see the attraction. Landmark may have 360 degree cams as well.
Just check out the spec on individual vehicles as there may be a lot of extras on a Graphite when ordered and you cant just compare the two. I personally prefer the Graphite as more Toys usually means more issues as you get further down the road. In the present market you should be able to pick up a Graphite for considerably less than your budget.
Due to potential issues make sure if your spending that amount it has full JLR service history and you keep it that way . At least you will get looked after if the worse happens.

Although it's a real first world extra the heated steering wheel is just a super extra... I use mine all the time in the colder weather and it is fabulous!
I echo the comments about looking in detail at individual specs as it seems to me that sometimes limited or special editions depended upon what was in the JLR goody box at the time of an individual vehicle manufacture. Jim

The Landmark has softer “premium” leather on the seats. The dash top and door cappings are also covered on leather.
Landmark has the panoramic roof and opening sunroof, which I’m sure the Graphite doesn’t.
In this weather a heated steering wheel is your favourite option. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

From memory, whilst the overall dimensions are broadly the same, the actual design of the seat varies. As does the adjustability, even when fully electric.
I’m not certain, but adjustability of the seats in the Graphite maybe less.
As an aside, there’s slightly more headroom in the D3/4’s that have the panoramic roof. Which is contrary to many other vehicles with a sunroof. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

When I bought new I couldn't see there was anything worth the extra money of any use to me. My Graphite has timed climate, heated steering wheel and cubby fridge. I didn't want a sunroof bearing in mind LRs ability to not keep water out of the cabin so it seemed extra cameras and heated rear seats was all there was in it.

It was nice having the bling sound system, but I wasn’t disappointed with the later HSE I owned that had the same “lesser” system as the Graphite.
Was a heated steering wheel standard on the Graphite? 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

The fact is the Lanmark version gone really quick. I have enquired for 2-3 Lankmark and they were sold within days when I was thinking. Not sure if it's correct: when a Landmark, I can sell it eaiser in case I want to chnage.

In terms of base kit, it goes:
SE (As basic as you can get but with add-on options)
Graphite (Body pack upgrade & can be optioned to add sunroof, etc)
HSE (Pano sunroof, better headlights & most of the bells & whistles inc, timed climate)
HSE-Luxury (as above + 2nd row TV & rear surround speakers)
HSE-Landmark (The above + better leather, 20inch wheels, full length roof bars & possibly wade sensor & remote control fuel burning heater as standard) Options include 2nd row climate control via the ceiling light cluster above the 2nd row seats.
I think that nearly right? I may have mixed up Luxury & Landmark but there's not much in it.
When I was doing my searches, until last week when I went for a higher mileage HSE (Euro 6), I noticed that the Landmarks had a much higher premium compared to the HSE/HSE Luxury.
Check the 'Menu screen > Extra Features' for the extra add-ons, like Wade sensing when you go to look over a D4. Discovery 4 HSE late 2015 Euro6

To be honest you are best to look at what the individual cars have on them, they all have a variety of options on them so it’s hard to say what the spec is
My graphite has every single option ticked and would probs have cost more new than a landmark.
Depends what bells and whistles you want as well, I have the seats folded flat more often than not so rear tv’s would add no value to me but may have cost me more to buy, same with sunroofs when I have a roof rack.
Test drive a few and find one that ticks all the boxes instead of being hung up on what the adverts say

^ Exactly.

I know. The dealer I brought mine from, Barclay Motor Company up below Birmingham said to me that he can't get Discos for love nor money at the moment. (He's a Jaguar/Land Rover specialist) People were just walking in asking to look at the D4, walking round it and saying, "Right then, i'll have it".
He (David) said he has no idea what's going on!
D4 Euro 6 started late 2015. If it has Ad Blue & Start/Stop it should be Euro 6.
A quick number plate check here will tell you if its Euro 6: https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/check-your-vehicle/
If it says it 'meets the ULEZ standards' it's Euro 6. Discovery 4 HSE late 2015 Euro6

It was the same when I bought my last Landmark. The D5 had not long come out, existing D3/4 owners were going to look at it at the main dealers and deciding they'd rather have a used D4 Landmark.
It took me 5 days, sitting on the sofa with a laptop, ipad, mobile and landline phone, to find one that wasn't white. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE
