Adaptive Cruise Control 2016 Discovery 4

Can adaptive cruise control be fitted to a 2016 discovery 4. I' Ve read many of the posts. However, I'm interested in the latest thinking in regard to this retrofit.
There wasn't the availability of this on the vehicles at my original purchase.
appreciate the latest thinking and cost please
Regards Laurie

How did you get on with this, also looking to fit adaptive cruise to a 2016 discovery, wondering if the wiring is already there

Just fitted ACC to my 2016 MY D4. All wiring already in place, You only need the steering wheel switchpack and a Radar unit. It will require a Gap tool, nanocom or similar to make the necessary ccf changes and calibrate the radar unit. Best mod that I have done to the Disco! Thumbs Up

Which radar did you fit? I have seen a few different ones discussed in a few posts. If you have a part number that would be amazing! Same for the switch back, doesn’t seem to be a very common item. I have the GAP IID tool now so hoping once I have the parts it should be a straight forward and quick install.

I used DPLA9G768AD which is from a 2014 L405.I needed to get it flashed with the correct Firmware from Gap via their Fastlane service as I had multiple fault codes when first fitted. Mods, Hopefully I can post the website address on here. I have no connection to them. It has a detailed how to on their site and I found it very helpful. See Discovery-parts.DE " Landrover things" for more info. Pretty straight forward on later vehicle , Remove front bumper, wiring should be clipped to front crossmember, mount Radar unit to front crossmember in a central position(this needs a bit of diy/trimming of the original bracket/drilling holes in the bracket/crossmember to allow bolting on. Adjust so that it sits vertical /horizontal. Fit steering wheel switches, then you need a tool such as a GapIID/Nanocom to make the ccf changes listed on the Discovery-parts website, There are 8 in total although I also activated the collision avoidance braking. I am happy to provide any info that I can to help(as others that have helped me) but can only confirm what worked for me. I have a 2016 MY but understand(but cannot confirm) that from 2012 on it should be the same set up with the wiring already in place. Thumbs Up

jjvd21 Pm Sent. It is a copy of a reply that I have sent to a few people now. If you need any further info please ask. I did notice that the price of used radar units on the U.S. E bay site seemed to be rather high compared to the UK site. Hope the P.M helps!

Could you please explain a little more in detail where the problem here is?
["mount Radar unit to front crossmember in a central position(this needs a bit of diy/trimming of the original bracket/drilling holes in the bracket/crossmember to allow bolting on"]

Is it because the holes are not yet existing at the crossmember or because it is coming from a L405 not a D4? Is there a bracket for D4 avaiable, too?

And one nor question, please: Do I have to remove the airbag or something complicated when installing the steering wheel switches? Or is it "just some screws"?

Hello.
From what I gather if you get the one from an L405 with the bracket you need to drill the holes and DIY mount it.

The D4 bracket is LR062475 from my searching and it is £86.90 +VAT not sure if the 405 radar unit fits it but probably does as LR062476 is a common radar unit across LR4/RRS/RR etc. This is £1164 +VAT!

I will hopefully be getting my bumber off this weekend to see if I have the cabling before I buy anything.

Re airbag, yes that needs to come off to get the LHS switchpack off. Two Torx screws under each side. You should be able to get them out without taking the wheel off.
I will undo the screws first so I can rotate the wheel with the engine running. Then disconnect the battery and wait to discharge, then take the bag off and the switchpack will just unclip. Be sure you know what you are doing re airbag...

that's exactly why I am asking. I was hoping to be able to avoid touching the airbag...so I'll better go to a shop.

Yes, The airbag needs to come off to fit the L/H switchpack. Its a bit fiddly to do but getting the airbag off is really the only semi difficult bit. Remember to disconnect the battery and leave for a few minutes before attempting! Good investigating from RAT1 as I hadn`t been able to find a part number for the D4 bracket on its own but did not need it in the end and might not have wanted to spend another £100 or so to get it anyway. I would imagine that the mounting holes are already there for it but cannot be sure. I ended up just drilling 3 new holes in the crossmember and mounting it directly to it with a 6mm spacer to give clearance. The correct bracket looks to be made of abs or hard plastic similar to some of the other front end parts on the D4. it will still need the metal part of the bracket as that is the part that has the alignment screws on it. Thumbs Up

^ Agreed - must say I've been greatly helped by dondiddy in this install and will fully document my install with pics on these threads.

Only delay for me is that I've spotted another D4 and if I get it I'll be putting it on that one instead Laughing
