Air con woes

Just had my air con blanked off to fix the leaking rear pipes. All done but and it’s now holding gas pressure but the garage says that still not working as the compressor isn’t working now, new one plus fitting around £800😱. I’m not spending that amount so I have a question or two

1 is there any way to check it is actually the compressor and not something else stopping the system kicking in?
2 does it need a reset after regassing
3 is it worth looking for a 2nd hand compressor?they seem to be about £130 on the bay (Anyone got one?)
4 anyone suggest anything else?

Going to have a large whiskey tonight, feeling depressed now😭😤😡

Cheers

Graham

My AC is not working at the moment it has a small leak which I am hoping is the condenser.

Do you have an IID tool? Is there anything on there that will test the AC pump?

I had similar dilemma - spent quite a lot messing around but in the end I spent even more and had a new compressor fitted which sorted the problem out. 2 years on and all still good.

Probably not what you want to hear.... Sad

Thumbs Up

Where abouts in Somerset are you? I work for a LR specialist, and could have a look for you...

I’ll pm you my number shortly. Compressor change, not fun. Did my first one last week and took just over 10 hours. But I think I’ve worked out a quicker way that I reckon should see it done in about 5/6.

When mine had similar symptoms the dealer said I needed a new compressor (£700) plus labour (another £700). I took the car to an independent a/c place who plugged in the computer and diagnosed a faulty pressure valve on the a/c pipe near the battery box. £50 including fitting.
Good luck.

Well my disco drove off into the sunset tonight with Dan720v here’s hoping he can find a nice easy fix😱 although if he can it’ll go down in history as the first one ever 😳

I will add that if he can get it working again he will be a real hero, up there with iron man and Thor 😀👍🏻

Sadly Dave720v isn’t iron man 😱. The disco compressor is kaput, he is however rising up the ranks as superhero as he is going to fit a compressor for me in a couple of weeks.

Thanks Dave for all your help 👍🏻
