Alde central heating

Apparently the antifreeze in Alde wet central heating needs to be replaced (two years or five years depending upon which one has been fitted). Anyone done it themselves and have a satisfactory way of doing it?

If you have a specific gravity tester then measure it see what protection levels your getting, or a friend/plumber with a spectrograph meter and if good leave it in.If it's the older column Type then drain it from the drainers and blow it through catch the fluid so that you have an idea of the quantity and condition the heat exchanger on the Column type can rot out badly because it is just ferrous metal. Then you need to find the bleed vents on the system usual hidden behind one panel or another if you don't find them then it's virtually impossible to refill the system even though it's open vented in effect. The more modern under seat ones are similar but made of better stuff and usually easier to re prime but you will still need to find the bleed vents.

I've got the same system in our old vanroyce tourer
It is a nightmare to re prime Censored I fitted a grunfos central heating pump in to the radiator system, now I just fill the system switch it on and the pump pushes it round all of it
I go round and bleed the valves done made it a lot easier for me draining it

I've read on a caravan forum to pump the antifreeze out with a transfer pump, but a bit concerned about airlocks, not getting it all out etc
