Anyone had gearbox faults P0730 P0729 cured with mega flush? |
|
Discovery 3 throwing up gearbox F fault. Done 175000 miles. Occurs once been using for 20-30mins and then hesitates on a gear change and then F fault. Usually when higher gears above 50mph. Never had gearbox oil change in my short ownership. Chances of mega flush sorting ? 🤞🏻🤞🏻 anyone had and tried similar before? Thanks

Okay so P0729 is incorrect gear ratio for 5th gear, P0730 is the same for 6th gear. That’s why they occur at higher speeds.
I guess you can blindly megaflush it. If there is too little ATF the above could happen, too. Before splurging on the megaflush you could verify the fluid level (if you can and are able), however.
On the other hand if that doesn’t fix it you probably would need to at least drop the pan, replace the filter (since you’ve got the pan off anyhow), replace the mechatronic sleeve (same reason), install a Sonnax Zip Kit and/or new solenoids….. if you go this way remember to reset adaptations since you’re touching hardware.

Thanks for the reply. Will check the level of the atf but that would be as far as would go really.

New solenoids, sonnax zip kit and separator plate fixed my P0730 error. Previously did all the tube , bridge and mechatronic seal.

Is there a way to determine which separator plate one needs without dropping the pan? There are at least 7 of them, I think.

No there isnt, there is a code stamped onto a tab of the plate that can only be seen with the pan off.
I tried using a boroscope camera but couldn't get it in.

Thanks.
That’s what I figured, too, but asking doesn’t cost anything
