Armrests on an S

I am thinking about buying a Disco3 in S trim, so cloth seats and I can't get my head around not having a fold-down drivers armrest. Can these be retro-fitted? If it's in cream leather then no problem as it will match the interior trim.

Welcome Nick
There is a company called rovertrim on ebay selling these armrests. I think that someone had secured a £180 fitted deal for the forum, cant be sure though. The company claim they are the same as OEM.

Trouble for you is Guernsey, meaning you may have to fit yourself, and then the end product may not be as good, no offence like.

Introduce yourself on the welcome pages too mate Thumbs Up

Officially it can be done, a company on Ebay were offering the service a while back.....But having seen whats involved by stripping the seats back to the frames and some welding of fixings and brackets, I would think its too expensive to consider, unless you can source some seats from ebay, and just swap them over. Probably just as cheap in the end

I was concerned about this, but as it's turned out ours doesn't have armrests and I haven't missed them at all. The centre storage box is (almost) an armrest...

So, you might decide to buy the car "as is", use for a few weeks, then only start looking for retro fit if it's a real pain for you?

I was also worried about the lack of armrests before acquiring my XS having always been used to them on other 4x4's. The centre box is more than adequate as an armrest and when I had to use an HSE recently, I found the whole cockpit cluttered and restrictive with the armrests. They are certainly difficult to move or adjust with the centre box and I felt rather fettered by them on the whole. Still, I suppose it's a matter of choice.

Thanks all. Dave - yes I should have gone to the welcome page but far too excited about posting and a potential LR purchase! I would post if I could find it though...

One other question - SatNav - how are the maps updated? Is it on a DVD, where is the drive and how much are the updated discs?

DVD, goes in the head unit under the passenger seat.

Acquire updated disk via Nick aka "The Large One" or TLO...:

New one due in March, you might want to wait. I'm sure it'll still ignore the major roads and send you the short way round... Crying or Very sad

Buy a TomTom... Thumbs Up

Looking at the threads on this forum it strikes me that there's alot of technical issues with the D3, and I dont know if now I'm not being put off the whole idea of owning one. Is LR ownership going to be expensive, and outside the means of the normal person? Confused
