ASFIR Underbody Protection

I recently fitted the ASFIR Underbody gearbox and rear diff guards. They went on really easy and use some existing and some new bolts, they seem to be well designed and fit neatly. The gearbox guard is made of 8mm alluminum plate, and the rear diff guard is made from 8mm galvanised steel, i needed to modify it to fit around my fat exausts, other than that there was no problem fitting them and they do seem to work well. Judging by the marks on them its a good job they are there.

Chris,
Looks just the job. What's the story on the cills?

BTW, great pics from France Thumbs Up Curious as to the chains on all four wheels - thought LR recommended only two wheels to be chained.

Sills

The sills are a product from Outback Imports they are 8mm folded ally, remarkably strong and make good sliders without having bits of iron hanging off you car an using up valuable ground clearance.

Regarding the snow chains, the event i was doing called for snow chains on all four wheels (just as well) so LR can say what they like, i know what i prefere.

Spain 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Auto Zambezi SilverDiscovery 3

Hello

@Christyler
- Very nice pictures!!!!!...
- Can you have a mantec plate in the front and the Asfir in gearbox and rear diff? Are they absolutely independent?.
- Your front one ..is it a mantec? .Don't seems.

@To all...
In the spanish land rover forum there's an interesting discussion about where to put chains...rear or front. Can anyone argue why with 17" in the front and rear and with 18-19" only rear?. In Spain some argue that is better always in the front and only in a hich descend in the rear. Would it be correct?.

Thanks
 Nacho

I might be wrong but I believe that in my (Belgian) manual is written always on the front - never the back without any difference due o whe wheel size....

I don't even understand why the alloy size would maka a difference.... The total size of the wheel (alloy + rubber) is the same for all discos. Somebody knows?

When i bought mine i was told front only 17", 18" & 19".
I do agree you can use them on all 4 wheels if you run on 17's
Thumbs Up
