I live in central London, own a D3, don't drive to work, yet still do around 10,000 miles a year in the D3. However nearly all of the miles in the D3 are done out of London - I use the D3 to escape the city and get out into other parts of the country. A typical trip away (say for a few days) would be 10 miles within London to get out, 500 miles done out of London, and 10 miles back in. Regularly performs 7 person duties around the country where otherwise we would be taking at least 2 vehicles. But under this person's agenda I would be banned from owning my car in the capital?

The D3 is supremely comfortable and is easily the best car I have ever owned for driving in heavy traffic, particularly compared to lower, less refined cars that are a much more stressful experience driving around London. If someone has a boatload of cash and decides to spend some of it on a larger car so they can be more comfortable in city traffic then who am I to proclaim that it's a waste of money. How someone values their comfort is not my problem. Freedom of choice is quite fundamental to our society (or it was at least) and you get into dangerous territory when it's open season to start banning things you don't like or agree with.

To call a 4x4 a 'virtual tank' is a bit of a stretch...

D3 weight 2.5-3 tonnes... Challenger 2 battle-ready weight, approx 75 tonnes Thumbs Up

I think the D3 probably has fewer blind spots than a C2, though not sure many people would try to push ahead of you in a merge-in-turn Laughing

Is that all.....

Topped up in April 2023, just under half a tank and 3100miles later. Small tank I will add.

Like:
* Use of green-lanes by 4x4s
* grouse/pheasant shooting
* gender-critical books
* gender-critical people
* comedians
* entire TV shows/films
* segments of classic films
* cigars in classic pictures
* 'colonial' items in museums, etc.,
* words and phrases in books?

I went to east Wales at the weekend. In conversation with the farmer from whom I bought my tractor counterweight, he said that his local drag-hunt (following a scent, not chasing foxes whilst wearing women's clothing) not only has to deal with saboteurs but the local Police who will arrive at the start of almost every hunt and start checking vehicles for roadworthiness (including washer-fluid!), the V5 category of quadbikes and just about anything else they can do to legally do to disrupt the start of a perfectly legal activity. That sort thing has got to be more than coincidence but have some sort of politics behind it.

Look at some of the "reasons for signing". These are typical of a good tranche of "I'm not signing" comments:

Quote:
I am not signing as it is totally irrelevant what type of car caused this tragic accident --it could have been a bus a lorry or a van --desperately sorry for the families who will never get over this but please do not start discrimination against types of car and possibly the owners over this sad matter.

I am not supporting this petition as it’s a biased one sided view. You mention an accident which was caused by a medical incident so is biased already, you also don’t mention that many 4x4s including the one in Wimbledon are hybrid and not the gas guzzlers polluting cars you say. BIASED CRAP

I will not be signing. The type of car is irrelevant. Britons need to grow a backbone and grow out of this infantile behaviour of wanting to ban everything they simply don’t like.

This has to be one of the most ill conceived petitions ever created: shame on you Fiona Green and shame on all of your supporters.

I can think of a good few reasons to have 4x4 but how about high performance cars like Porsches, Fezzas and Lambos, other sports cars are available? The only reason I can think of for having those is for driving enjoyment. Their impact on Da Planet is a lot higher than my little 4x4 and they get off Scott free from the grief that is thrown our way!

There is no mention of noise pollution, week-ends are a nightmare where I live when all the city boys get their toys out and sit reving them up and then decide to go for a blast in a 30mph zone. Twisted Evil
