Battery light
Driving my car about a 1 mile this morning when the battery light came on, turned round and got it home with clouds of ackrid smoke coming from under the bonnet. I disconected the batteries and waited for the smoke to clear, i tested with my ammeter to see if i could reconnect the battery with the hope i can drive it the four miles to my workshop but the ammeter is maxing out so i guess the alternator is shorting out.
I have ordered a new Denso alternator and will have the fun job of changing it on my drive, please can somebody tell me how do you remove the main battery connection on the alternator. Can you get to it in situ or do you drop the alternator down to get to it.Andrew

easy job on the drive takes about 10 mins if you get the fan off easilyplease excuse any grammer/punctuation mistakes,i'm thick,thankyou

Well after the first alternator turned up and was the wrong one in the box the second one turned up today.
It was a very easy job, had a struggle with the fan which didnt want to come undone but that was the only problem half an hour start to finish.Andrew

Any recommedations as to Denso alternator suppliers ?D3 owned from new, P017 brake recall, BAS FBHIC, new FBH, LR013487 oil pump, new water pump. RRS front lower suspension arms. New suspension compressor/ relay. New Denso alternator. CuNifer rear brake pipes. New GKN rear propshaft. New HPFP belt & tensioner. New A/C Condenser.NO WARRANTY for many many years.

I got mine from Land rover direct very good service and cheaper than anybody else i found.
Had a bit of an issue with the first alternator that turned up but it was in a sealed box and had obviously been packed wrong by Denso. They sent a replacement out the same day on a next day service and the person on the phone said that he would personally check that it was the correct one before it was sent.Andrew
