Best tyres for 17" rims
Hi
Has anyone got any experience of the Toyo Open Country AT? They look like a Cooper Discover ATR but slightly more agressive and come in 235/70R17 which I believe is the OE size for 17" rims.
My tyres will need changing before too long and I'm trying to decide what to go with - want something with more grip off road than standard OE tyres but I do lots of motorway miles so don't want anything too noisy or that will affect road handling too much.
Quite like the idea of the General AT2 (as I've used them before on a 90) but they don't do the OE size and I'm concerned that if I fit a non-standard size it will invalidate the warranty.
Also keen to keep the 17" rims as I don't really want to splash the cash on replacing them - would rather put the money towards some Xenons!!
Any advice / views?MY11 Disco 4 SDV6 HSE

According to the Toyo UK website, there isn't a 235/70/17 option.
I looked earlier, see my post on AT tyres for 17".

Interesting - I can't find them on the Toyo UK site either but I found a company on the internet offering them at £103 fitted. I'll see if I can find them again!MY11 Disco 4 SDV6 HSE

Right, seems I was having a senior moment - the tyres I found were 16"
Still, my original dilemma stands - has anyone got any advice on the best tyre for mixed use (i.e. ok off road and on road) in the original size 235/70 17! I'm currently running continental 4x4 contacts which are great on the road but not brilliant off it. Is there a half decent off road tyre in the OE size for 17" wheels or should I be looking to take the plunge and invest in some 18" wheels with AT2s or 19 inchers with MTRs??MY11 Disco 4 SDV6 HSE

Cooper do the ST in 245 70 17, I am running 265 65 17 AT2's with no problems at all. Can't see any reason why it will affect insurance or warranty TBH.2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

You can usually get a set of wheels AND tyres off of e-bay for less than a replacement set of tyres (sorry AJS 4x4 )Bodsys Brake Bible
