Hi Guys,
I picked up my car today after it was delivered from the other side of Aus!
All great ( Except for stamp duty & rego) but one little fault I found - Bonnet Open comes up in the instrument binnacle I opened the bonnet a couple of times and closed it properly but still the error exists.
Any suggestions rather than getting it looked at?

on the drivers side catch is the switch, try unpluging the connector a few times as the connections may be oxidised if you know what I mean. also check that the switch is functioning by using a screwdriver to operate the switch (will need the missus to help). other than that it could be that the catch is too low and needs to be slightly raised/adjusted to catch the switch with the striker bar.

If that fails, pull the connector off and stick a paper clip in to short out the terminals.
Not exactly a good idea to do this sort of thing, but if you've tried everything CW says, then at least it will stop it showing the message until you can get it fixed 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

I had the same problem a while back and no matter what i did i couldnt clear the message, plus the alarm sounded every time i locked the car to let me know a door wasn't closed properly. Eventually i slammed the bonnet shut which fixed the issue. 1995 V8 ES - SOLD.

which suggests your catches need adjusting.

What PaulP says.
The problem is with the little clicky thing in the catch. Either adjust it or replace it. Or slam it and slam it and slam it, eventually something else will break and you wont be worried about the little catch any more In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Thanks for the tips guys
I had a look at it checked the connectors all clean and Ok,
Popped the grille off and removed the switch had a bit of a play re modeling the position of the trigger steel, still no good.
Then I had a look at the alignment of the catch in relation to the bonnet when it just comes in contact with the catch. Bingo no it was not aligned. I undid the Torx bolts moved it across maybe 4mm re tightened, checked and YES that was it!

~Rich~,
So how are you enjoying the ride??
Slightly smaller than the cruiser though. Why is the fear of long words called hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia?
