Morning Mikey, yep I think you mentioned that to me earlier from my previous post. However I am going by the VIN numbers in my post and assumed this was the weak part which I know you will know
Part number LR007131, ( superceeded to LR013487) 8a457086 to 9a508509.... I have checked & both failures I have seen fell in this chassis range.... 50-60,000 miles, never had a belt change. Both 57 plates Owning a Discovery 3 is like dating a model.. a firm body and shape, wow.. the ride is fantastic > for this your wallet can take a pounding and you worry about being deflated at any time...

does any one know if Land rover will cover any of the costs of replacing the engine.
had the belts and tensioner replaced at main dealers 14 months and 6600 miles ago.
2007 HSE done 77,000 miles if I was advised to the time I would have had oil pump changed.
Now the mounting has failed

It has to be worth a call some people have secured large contributions towards the cost, need to have mine done as I'm on borrowed time it seems
Have now got car back with new engine 50% contribution from Land Rover .Taken so long to get repaired(8 weeks) because dealership could not fit the job in.

They only contributed 50% ? You had the belts changed at a LR DEALER a short while ago, and they failed to inform you of this (by now) extremely well known, and disastrous design flaw ....LR should be responsible for the entire cost surely. You are letting them off lightly.D3 owned from new, P017 brake recall, BAS FBHIC, new FBH, LR013487 oil pump, new water pump. RRS front lower suspension arms. New suspension compressor/ relay. New Denso alternator. CuNifer rear brake pipes. New GKN rear propshaft. New HPFP belt & tensioner. New A/C Condenser.NO WARRANTY for many many years.
not happy with what I was offered but after six phone calls was told that due to the age of my vehicle
they would not pay any more.
When I ask why was I not advised to have oil pump changed with cam belt I was told that it is not something that they advise to have done.
In other words if they advise customers to have oil pump changed they are admitting a problem.

Would my 59 plate vin ending 9a5115** have the uprated pump fitted already? Mines at 101900 so due belts now.

Mine's an early 09 with VIN 9A5073**. Flack did my belts a couple of months back and I didn't need a new casing, the uprated one had been fitted at build.Arthur.
Comedy was a horse, Harvey a dog, both sadly gone. Thought I was choosing a password!

I spoke to a LR rep yesterday who use to work in and then managed the service dept in large Melbourne dealership for over 19 years.
He had never heard of the pump casing failing, pre or post timing belt replacement?

Of course they say that - for them to indicate otherwise is an admission of the problem and opens lots of legal doors.
Ask them why they changed the design then.

he acknowledged that front suspensions bushes are on the D3
And recommended that the ZF transmission oil needs replacing at least every 80k for vechiles that work hard, ie tow caravans etc.
In the 2007 / belts swapped category - 120 miles
Am I in a danger zone ?BREXIT - done properly.

Well the Tasmanian LR independent specialists know all about it so I dont know why the dealer wouldn't, particularly as LR changed the oil pump housing to fix the well know problem.

Just bought my D3 and thought best do belts and check oil pump. Looking at my oil pump looks to be superseded one with extra webbing.
Does anyone know if any oil pumps with extra webbing have failed??
My vin:8A483879.
Should I change oil pump or as it looks to be superseded one leave it?? Advice appreciated as D3 newbie.
