CARAVAN MOUNTED CAMERA THROUGH DISCOVERY 4 HSE SCREEN |
|
Hi all,
I ordered a Discovery 4 HSE 3.0L (with surround camera system) in December 09 with expected delivery some time in the next couple of months. Mainly towing a caravan with a bit of weekend off road driving. I have a camera mounted on the rear of the caravan and was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to wire this camera up so that it could be viewed through the vehicle's screen rather than using the monitor that came with the kit.
Thanks

Nifty I have been trying to do this for a while with a lot of help from Pete at Bell auto s, the sticking point appears to be the cable/plugs. They are Rosenberger and they will not supply either to anybody apart from manufacturers. I am still looking but not joy so far MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Hi Russell,
Thanks for your reply. I posted the same question in the regional area of this forum (Australia & New Zealand) and received a suggestion from another member to try 'Wiggs' as apparently he is the guru of all things electronic. Try to send a personal message to him but system wouldn't allow as I ?haven't posted more than three times on the forum so decided to post the same question in the In Car Electronics, hoping he would see it.
I'll wait and see if he does respond. Thanks for the welcome, it's a great forum with plenty of valuable info. I'm sure after I get the Disco 4 I'll be posting again.
Regards

Wiggs there are two types, the one fitted to the multi camera system and the one fitted to the single reversing camera. I have the multi camera set up and have been trying to get hold of rosenberger cable and or connectors. So far I have not beenable to find anybody who can supply them. I too want this and may be able to help when my son gets back from his jolly’s . He works in the right trade.
Do you have a part number for the connecters and I will ask if he can get some.
I cant check my car with surround camera system as the don’t build it until March
Do we know what type of camera will work with this i.e Resolution, type of camera connector , phono , 4 wire or coax. I will pull mine apart once I get it.
I will be nice not to have a separate screen on the dash and upgrade to colour.
Hope I can help
Thanks

Hi guys, I'm also very keen for this. I imagine there is a large market for horsebox pullers who would like to have a wireless camera (connected to power, but signal must be wireless as horsebox gets disconnected) to feed thro to main screen, rather than having a separate screen in the car. In my case, I'd happily replace a wheel camera screen space with this feed.
If anyone can guide us on how to 'jailbreak' our D4 to get an external feed working it would be MUCH appreciated.
