instrument clusters - Be careful people

Loads of people advertise instrument clusters as 2004-2009 for the discovery 3 2007 is a change over year pre 2007 shows a (p) in yellow instead of engine management and also shows a red car with lines when you turn lights on it stops certain features from working correctly on cars 2007-2009 they need to have the engine management light in the correct place and a green circle with lines to the left of the lcd display sorry if this has already been flagged up but I’m sick of buying wrong clocks and sending them back

Hi Cheeko!
You can swap the instrument cover over from your old clocks to the new one, this is a pretty easy task and means you will then have the correct images displayed. It's just a sheet of plastic with cutouts at the end of the day. Probably easier than having to repeatedly order clocks and send them back.
The hardest part is just making sure you put the needles back in the right place, otherwise they will read incorrectly!

Note
the FBH (red) and lights on (green) LED will still be the incorrect colour though

Adam2510 unfortunately not buddy I’ve had a world of pain with the clocks until I discovered gap it’s a long story but my original clocks are none existent was just a heads up for others so they don’t fall for the same problems as me long story short it’s cost me around £1400 and I’m left with 2005 clocks in a 2009 but I will sort it when I can get some 2007+ clocks at the right price thanks to gap

Apparently there are reputable repair companies that offer life time guarantees on there work I took it to a set of idiots that blew myne up then found another company who said they could remove eeprom chip and replace in a new cluster found this was not possible or they didn’t know what they was doing I have found someone who looks good for cluster repairs but I wouldn’t recommend because I haven’t had work done there myself. Gap is a Bluetooth obd reader that is a must have for Land Rover Range Rover easy to use and does most faults expensive though but better than paying an auto electrician every time you need something. Now be careful because apparently a bad cluster can do all sorts stop car from starting open and lock doors when it wants there was other things that made me dive right into a repair as soon as myne started to act up but I didn’t research it and it cost me a fortune and put car off road for 6 weeks. 2007 is a change over year so you could have the new style clocks new and old isn’t compatible good luck I hope you get it sorted and this heads up saves you money. (Gap 11d) is a start to research 👍

You don’t need gap if you get yours repaired it’s if you buy a second hand unit or need to investigate problems yourself but I’d recommend getting one there brilliant

My son used this company to repair his 2007MY instrument cluster some time back

Easy process and quick turnaround - he's had no issues since the repair.
