D4 XS Halogen front lighting

Having picked up my new D4 XS at the start of the week, yesterday was the first time I’d driven it properly at night. I live in the countryside with no street lighting.

The XS has the standard Halogen lights fitted, which seemed to me to be incredibly poor, casting little light immediately in front of the vehicle or to either side of the front wheels. This is problematic when turning sharply or turning off one road into another unlit road, as you cannot really see what you are turning into, clearly this would be equally as bad off road.

I will contact the dealer about this, but has anyone else noticed this, or is it just me/my XS? Neutral

If it is just the Halogen lighting, what is the best upgrade path, brighter bulbs or retrofit the Xenon lamps?

Xenon Lamps are a huge HUGE improvement over std halogens, once youhave had them on a car, you will never go back to Halogen. Has to be seen to be believed. Thumbs Up

I test drove a D4 XS a couple of weeks back with halogen lights and I too thought they were poor. Not a patch on my D3's with standard bulbs! Shocked

Thanks for your replies guys, I just couldn't quite believe how bad they actually were! As others have mentioned on other threads, to source an XS with the Xenons would have delayed matters. Any thoughts on best way to improve, retrofit the Xenons or H& bulb upgrade?

Phil

Hi phil
just had the same problem saw the fairy lights and thought I had the xenons fitted, collected the car yesterday and found I had standard lights
having spoken to the service manager he told me you cannot fit the xenons on to the XS as a after thought

Does the high beam light the ground at all or is it up in the trees like the halogens in the bi-xenons (at least some of them)? The halogens in my bi-xenons have a wide albeit thin spread in the trees but nothing on the ground.

You certainly would have difficulty fitting adaptive xenons, but I'm not so certain he is right about simply replacing the halogen units with xenons.
