Having had more than a couple of years to get used to them now, it’s not as stand out ugly as it once was but, to my eyes and now the novelty/shock has worn off, it now looks more like a product of a distant era.
The front end reminds me of the Bedford Astramax van that drove from ‘86-‘88 (though the Astramax was better looking), while the back looks more like the rear ends of the MkIII Astras that our service technicians were issued with in the mid-late 90’s.
Perhaps it’s best to tune the radio to 1053/1089, listen to Steve Wright in the Afternoon and enjoy the nostalgia trip!   2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

I would still have one over the DS. In fact I would’ve given my right arm to have one as a loaner rather than the DS I was supplied. When I seen it I just 
But hopefully next year LR will improve the DS as it switches to the new PTA platform to allow for mild hybrid and PHEV capabilities. LR say it will be more rugged inside and out to distance itself from the Range Rover line up and ride comfort will be improved. We will see. 23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

Well, I never thought that I’d be saying the following! I picked up our 2016 D4 Landmark today after four weeks, and crikey, it did feel a heavy, cumbersome beast after the D5!
Yes, the seats in the Landmark are much more comfortable in both the front and rear than in the poverty spec D5, and that awful flat spot in the D5, I just wouldn’t be able to live with, but from what others have said, it could well just be that car.
The D5 was mush more nimble and probably more ‘fun’ to drive. The big question though, would I buy one. No.

Now I’ve got a 2018MY D5 V6 HSE loaner for a few days; joy is unconfined! 
While the car might be the usual D5 fodder, it’s nice to drive with that wonderful V6 again  2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4

If I was to go back to a D5 I won’t be touching the 3.0. The early service warnings and LRs refusal to acknowledge it as a fault and instead blame “driving style” was the reason my D5 went.
Sorry LR I’ve had 7 previous LRs with DPFs and yet to have an issue, my EU6 D4 was serviced at a year old with no service warnings and still had 11,000 miles of AdBlue left. Your blame the customer attitude don’t wash  23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

The twin turbo version? If such a thing is even available, I'm not up to speed on the new LR engines.
I love the EU6 3.0 SDV6 in my D4 though.  2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

I had heard, second hand, that the new 306 bhp engine was twin turbo, but I can’t find concrete proof of it as no current brochures are available.
I see that the single turbo TDV6 in the 2017 MY Full Full has finally been replaced with the proper, twin turbo, 275 bhp SDV6 in the 2018MY Full Fat, so it’s looking likely

According to the latest 'Which' magazine report Car Guide - once again all LR products come out as a 'Don't Buy' from what I have read. Third from bottom of the 'reliability index' - only Chevrolet and Saab are worse. I think we all know this 2016MY Discovery HSE - Black

3rd that ain’t bad, I had them bottom.
I love my Velar but there is now more choice than ever before at half the price, I would think harder before buying another. If LR could solve the software issues then most of the customers issue would solved. 23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green
