It’s a struggle! Oddly, I’ve found the FFRR to be a much closer successor to the ‘4 than the ‘5 could ever hope to have been!
Don’t get me wrong, I’m very happy with the FFRR, but nothing comes close to the ‘4 for a combination of sheer practicallity, understated class, long distance comfort, visibility, value for money, and being traditionally Land Rover like
Unfortunately, I can’t think of anything that now comes close to offering something truly equivalent to the D4 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: 2 x FL2 as “second” cars 🙄

Your statement is so true! I should add: great interior space and great engine. I keep falling in love over and over again with this car, especially now when i see the "competitors" on the market.
I just drove back from Portugal to France on a 17 straight hours drive...wow, what a machine! Every time i get very impressed with it. Simply the perfect car for travelling long distances with family, luggage and dog!
LR, you've killed one of your best creations...

My 12year old D3 V8 far surpasses my 2015 VW T5 180dsg in all driving aspects.

The decision looms for me as the D4 hits it's 3rd birthday next June
I think the D5 is just plain overpriced, something I could probably get over if it wasn't for that odd looking rear end, which is a shame because I love the view from every other angle and I'm sure it's a cracking motor (I've never even sat in one)
At the moment nothing seems to be tempting me from the D4. So as next June looms it might just be a case of getting the best warranty I can.Discovery 4 HSE

@Heath_DA:
Have you ever seen where some unfortunate people who, once they get a severe allergic reaction, their lips swell up and their eyes close to near slits, as the bags under their eyes and the eyelids themselves swell? It looks really painful
Now look at the back of the D5 in your photo!.. 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
