Disco 4 oil change
Hi All,
I've seen a post on the Disco 3 site showing how to do an oil change on a Disco 3 which is pretty similar (read same) as Disco 4 except for the checking with the electronic dipstick. In that thread someone had asked about using an oil vacuum pump to suck the oil out through the dipstick.
Well, I'll get to the point now, last week I was at the dealer and asked about doing my own oil changes between services which he told me that I did not need to drop the sump guard and use the drain plug if I was happy to just just pump the oil out.
He showed me a small pipe with a screw cap just in front of the oil filler (see photo attached) he just remove the cap, attach an oil pump and suck the oil out and refill without the need to get under the car.
Now I know dumping the oil via the sump plug removes more than going via the "dip stick" but I'm happy to do this in-between services my question is I have not seen anyone mention that the oil can be extracted this way before has anyone done this or has my dealer given me the bum steer?

As far as I know that is the way the dealers do it anyway. Just put back in exactly the amount you took out. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Thanks for the reply Carver,
I asked this particular Dealer that question and he said no they do the oil change via the sump plug.
But I just wanted to confirm that that pipe does allow extracting of the oil? and has anybody done it that way?
Regards
Paul

Do a search and you should find somr discussions.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Do you think it needs a change between the annual service ? Did you go with the 3.0 ?
