I've no idea with that cable. I've only ever seen it done with a genuine LR cable and a genuine Apple Lighting to 30 pin connector. Neither of the things you have purchased are the genuine article, maybe that's your issue?

As someone else said, I think you'll need a tune2air to get the best out of spotify, I've been using that set up since I've had my Disco and it's awesome, no faffing, just get in the car and it connects via BT, you can skip tracks etc and the track name appears on the screen, you just can't browse through your library.
