On a 2010 or 2011 you can't plug an iPod into the USB port in the centre cubby. The USB port is specifically for USB sticks only. You have to use the multi pin connector next to the USB port and the specific LR 'curly' iPod cable.
I assume that because this is what you have to do for an iPod then the same applies to an iPhone. I'm not sure if you will be able to play music from Spotify, but it might allow you to play music stored on the iPhone.

DG, if you use the curly LR iPod lead connected to an iPhone rather than an iPod can you play music stored on the phone with 2010/11MY?

I believe so I'm not an apple fan so maybe others can confirm 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
If later iPhone (lightning connector) you'd need an adaptor from 32 pin, don't know if it would work thoughPaul.

Once you have the lightening adapted, there is a sequence to get it to recognise Spotify rather than the iPhone ipod. I think you need to have Spotify playing, then connect and it automatically recognised is. If it's not playing, it defaults to the iPod app and can't be changed back.
I'm not 100% sure yet as I've just changed my 4S to a 6S and haven't yet got s lightening adapted to try it

I don't think that is possible.
I believe you will need to connect through a separate bluetooth device connected to the iOS connector like tune2air. Do a search, there are a few threads on this.

My above method worked on a 4S, so don't think there should be a problem using a Lightning Connector.
I was told about it by another forum member on here. You have to get the start sequence right. It displays the song names etc on the Nav screen.
Obviously no way to make it work via Bluetooth without any additional hardware

Are you plugging the phone into the USB socket? As already said that will not work and nothing will make it work. You must plug the phone into the multi pin socket next to the USB socket using the special dedicated Land Rover curly cable.
