I heard the same noise on my13 D4 HSE 52k Miles when warm. I also have an extended warranty if needed. Checked the oil and its 3/4 full so will top up and see if this resolves the noise. If not I will go back to my local dealer.Landrover is finally part of the family

dgardel - I replied to your PM but for the benefit of everybody else, I heard the noise from cold and it got slightly louder when warm.
BrightYellowTVR - let me know how you get on and if you need any advice etc. My Disco is running like a dream now

Mine is tapping when hot, although not excessively. Dealer says it’s ok and nothing wrong.
Did you see the old lifters, and do you think it’s a serious problem or one that can be got away with? Was it LR warranty?

Not noise on cold (oil more dense)?

It happens quite often and not just on LR engines.
That noise bothered me (at least it gave me VERY annoyance) but it is also true that in the dealership have a D4 of 2010 with 400000km and has the tapping noise since it had 50000km .....

I have a warranty with warranty direct, but with the dealer saying there is nothing wrong I don’t fancy my chances of a successful claim. I guess the labour to strip for diagnosis would be considerable!

engine tapping noise
My 16 Disco 4 has been overfilled by dealer twice ( over 2 litres) from May 2019. Then I found tapping noise from engine and went back. They have done a smoke test and said left manifold is a little bit leaking. It is their fault. So they replaced it free. The tapping noise is not obviously now. After driving it for a while or say it is hot, it has tapping noise as below.
I checked it myself. Two noises: one is the top left concern low bass tapping, the other is front right near fan high tapping noise. It is a bit different from yours. Can you listen and advice?

That sounds fine to me.
Just check your oil level just as a precaution - but there’s nothing obvious that would worry me, personally.
