Double Din Head Unit
Hi,
Just finished fitting an Extrons double din head unit and found it a lot easier than I was expecting.
Just got to sort out reversing camera.
I've recently had the steering wheel audio controls fitted, can anyone give me some advice on getting them working.
Cheers.

I used a Connects2 CTSLR006.2 adapter for the steering wheel controls. It just plugs into the radio. A lead for the Xtron/connects2 adapter is also needed like this : http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/connects2-...patch-lead
The Xtrons units come with the fly leads included so no additional adaptors required - from memory only one of the 3 fly leads from the Xtrons unit requires connecting to then be able to calibrate the controls with the Xtrons unit using the resistance ladder system that LR employ for the switches . There is a menu in the settings in the unit that allows you to configure the steering wheel controls - this even allows you to reallocate the LR switches to do alternative functions .
Now the big question is ....... Which pin on the LR multi plug do you connect the fly lead from the Xtrons unit , I have that info somewhere I'm sure . Other option is to get the wiring diagram of the LR audio system and that of the multiplug as it will readily identify the pin I used ...... Anyone got that wiring diagram to help our fellow colleague out ?...

Doh, thought it was too good to be true, just been out and got no lights on the stereo when I put lights on.
Looks like it's coming out again tomorrow, are there lights on with the cd400 unit?2011 Discovery 4 XS in Fuji White

You will find on the wiring harness that came with the unit there are 1 maybe 2 wires iirc that need to be connected to a switched live to illuminate the units lights for switches etc .....
Should be clear when you remove the unit as all the wires are usually clearly labelled on xtrons units when supplied .

There are 2 wires on the Xtrons unit (SW key 1 and SW Key 2).
Also is negative power the same as Grnd, I need to connect the Brake cable to negative power in order to get the DVD player working?2011 Discovery 4 XS in Fuji White

Another cable to run down to the cigar lighter then.
Probably red at the lighter

Old post i know but still relevant, i'm about to buy an Eonon head unit which is almost identical to the Xtrons above. The Connects2 fascia kit i was going to buy includes the SWC harness which makes it an expensive kit especially if i dont need that part, the head unit has wires for the the SWC so if i'm not mistaken you are saying that i wont need SWC harness ?
Means i can save about $100 on fitting.
