EGR blanking and remap questions

I am all about preventive maintenance and doing the best for my cars, as my car is pretty new to me I like doing all that is needed so in theory I have a reliable car (I know discovery and reliable are not often seen together on this forum) I have no issues with my car and it is driving absolutely fine with no error codes so here are my questions.

Is it worth my doing an EGR blank and remap, what is the going rate to have these two done.

Is it worth doing just the blank or just the map or leave well alone as car is running fine.

Does doing any of the above have any effect on life of Turbo's or other parts that could be put under extra pressure.

Thanks Pete

This is just my opinion. I have a remap and patch with emulators. Since having it done the only thing I had to do was replace my large intercooler hose.
I did have an EGR fault and that is why I had the emulators fitted. I already had the BAS remap.

If it was me, I would definitely get the remap but wait until the EGR's need replacing to do that job. But like I said, that's just my opinion.

Well I will go against the more usual answer from here and recommend a remap from Mike of Dynachip along with a code that shuts the EGRs.

I did this in April 2014 and then it was £250 (£225 for the remap and £25 to close EGRs), which is less than others. I remain very happy with the results and no physical work was done on the EGRs.

And why wait for the egr,s to fail in some far away place ,that doesn't make any sense to me and that s just my opinion Thumbs Up

Ps also BAS remap and no need for egr patch it's a 2005 and not needed

In regard to the emulators, I was only explaining what I had done to mine Geoff ( What you and Pete did to mine ) as mine is a 2008
If mine was a 2005, I would have left the EGR and had a blanking kit at the ready.

It has on mine. I get more torque, more umph and better mpg. The lie-ometer never went over 30 mpg before, but now it shows an average of nearly 34!

I don't get any lag when pulling away now too, but I think that is from the EGRs being closed.

Agreed, the remap makes a huge difference Thumbs Up I can't comment on the size of Geoffs hands, but they certainly did a great job of blanking my EGR's
