This is just my opinion. I have a remap and patch with emulators. Since having it done the only thing I had to do was replace my large intercooler hose.
I did have an EGR fault and that is why I had the ?emulators fitted. I already had the BAS remap.
If it was me, I would definitely get the remap but wait until the EGR's need replacing to do that job. But like I said, that's just my opinion.
And why wait for the egr,s to fail in some far away place ,that doesn't make any sense to me and that s just my opinion
Ps also BAS remap and no need for egr patch it's a 2005 and not needed
If I only knew, i'd of blanked my egr's and removed the butterfly from new. I did it at 105,000 miles and my plastic plenum chamber was carboned up . It was a rite bit of work cleaning it up.
I cant comment on remapping because ive never done it to mine, or drove 1 with it done.

No - an electronic code was applied that allegedly shuts the EGRS and switches them off. The diagnostics afterwards apparently confirmed the EGRS are 100% not open and not operating.
Now I have no idea how to validate this, nor if it will prevent any future EGR issues. However I no longer have any acceleration lag and so far I have not had anything EGR related happen.
You need to remove the butterfly, and I'd fit some plates if I were you... Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC

You can't, is the short and simple answer
Just because the valves have been written out, does not mean they are 100% shut, regardless of what the diagnostics are saying...My D3 Build Thread
If the software is already done correctly, then it's just the blanks and butterfly removal which is the same as the others. Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC

I suspect that the software update you've had generically deletes 26fault codes inc overboost, low fuel pressure, high fuel pressure amongst others...
Not the safest way t do it IMHO...Bodsys Brake Bible
Well I don't know. I had a fuel pressure problem some time after this was applied which showed up on diagnostics.

I have a BAS remap and can recommend it. But: is it now possible to blank the egr on a 2009 D3?
Yes, it is now possible. As you've got the remap via IID, Speak to BAS and buy the add on for the EGR blank software update.

Blank-remap-patch
Ok ...interesting tread .
I’m getting a EGR fault showing up on my IID ,
May be a stupid question but how do I blank -remap - and patch my EGR’s ????
Don’t spare the details.

There are blanking kits available. It’s been a while now since I blanked mine, if memory serves. , I removed the Metal pipes from both egr valves to black plastic inlet manifold. fitted some blanking plates, removed a flap from a butterfly valve. But left the unit in place. As for wires, everything’s still plugged in so as far as the ecu goes. It thinks it’s all working.
I cleaned my inlet manifold too. It was full crud from the egr valves recirculating exhaust gasses.
I have a early 2005 model. I didn’t need to remap anything or plug into a computer.
The 2008 models might be different. I don’t know that. At least it’s a starting point.

Thanks for that ,
It’s a little more knowledge than I had earlier
I see the kits on fleabay for £15 .
So if I fit this kit will my dash light up like a Christmas tree ? ,
Do I need a technician to fit a “patch “ ( whatever the hell that is ) and remap it ?
