Engine stalls

For the past couple of months, the car has occasionally suffered from a stall.

Usual scenario. I go to start the car, which is fine, I then select drive and it hardly moves before it stalls. You can’t rev the engine, it simply won’t let you do that. No warning lights, nothing.

I then have to press the start button as if to stop it, then press it gain and it starts fine and drives thereafter.

I have had it into the main dealer, but they can’t replicate the fault nor find out what’s wrong.

Any ideas?

Is the parking brake set to engage automatically? Try manually disengaging it first then setting off. Might give an indication of where the problem is.

It happens when the brake is manually released. It’s just the way I do it. I then select drive and sometimes it moves a yard or so before stopping. Other times it doesn’t move at all. I’ve had it happen twice, first time it didn’t move, second time I’d move about a cars length and then it stopped.

Ive been having the odd spot of bother as above, a very intermittent problem when starting the car up and putting it into drive, it might move slightly, then stop. Turning it off and on again seems to cure it.

Yesterday, started car, drove 50 yards to a junction, stopped.

Upon taking off with the car in drive, it appeared a bit sluggish and simply didnt move. I put it in reverse, but no luck again. I did this a few times before turning it off and on again. It then behaved perfectly, sounds fine. All levels okay too.

No warning lights coming up on the dash.

ive emailed the garage, but no response yet. Any ideas?
