EPB
Hi Martin it would appear that the EPB is a serious ongoing fault with D3s. What should I do mine has just stuck on. Thanks Dingdong D2 D3 MF35 Be36 Be58

Just behind the EPB lever is a peice of flat plastic trim.
That pops off and underneath (you may have to look arround) you will find a peice of wire with a hoop on it. Loop somethign throiugh the hoop and pull really REALLY hard. It shoiuld then release it. Bodsys Brake Bible

Park Brake Failure EPB
Amazing I levered off the little black plastic cover strip just aft of the Park Brake Actuator Switch and was poking around with my Saturday night finger trying to locate the loop and I heard a click and a whirr from under the Disco then the red "P" sign came on steadily on the HUD. When I started the engine the fault was cured! Thanks to all you good guys for your help and advice. Dingdong D2 D3 MF35 Be36 Be58

Park Brake Failure EPB
Well well! It's gone again. What is it that makes the graunching grinding noise under the car when you pull the key out of the ignition? I think I'll go back to a Defender. D2 D3 MF35 Be36 Be58

Adam, Mines auto and I had heard that the EPB comes on when you pull the key out so I'll just do the loop pulling thing and hope it gets me to the garage. I have a feeling that the elecrtronic actuator under the car has gone wrong hence the awful grinding noise. Shame cos otherwise I love it.D2 D3 MF35 Be36 Be58

Search EPR screamer and you will see you are in very good company.
I had such problems with mine I stopped using it after it stranded me a few times and dealer seemed incapable of making 'fit for purpose' (probably because it isn't).
Despite changing car I still in the habit of putting it in Park and ignoring the hand-brake (despite the fact SWMBO uses it sometimes and it now seems reliable).
Don't be tempted to use it while it is screaming or close to screaming as it will not only make u look an idiot when it makes a racket and potentially strand you but also cause more significant damage to the unit requiring lots of £s rather than an adjustment.
Cheers

Weird thing re EPB screamer is mine no longer does it!! Only difference is I changed dealer for servicing. Now use Frank Ogg of Elgin and they know what they are doing. Whilst some peeps dont use the EPB at all (as I did when car was under old "management") I now have no fear. Saying that SWMBO is 500 miles away in my D3 so ive just tempted fate big time!!

Coming on while driving.
I have a similar issue however my hand brake came on with a bang as I was driving. I didn't touch the switch and the light didn't come on and it would not release. However by the time recovery truck got there it released again so no idea what caused it and no warning lights on the dash. I am planning on stripping the rear brakes and hand brakes at the weekend and won't be driving it until I have stripped everything and cleaned and greased it. But if anyone can suggest anything to look for it is much appreciated.
