| Extended warranty - Which one? opinions please... |

My car is coming up to 3 yrs old (6 months time) and I am keeping it for at least another 2.5 years. My miles are 53k, and I am now doing about 15k per year.
My thoughts are to go with the Land Rover extended warranty. I have had Warranty Direct on a previous car, and found it reasonable, but seemed to be down to ones negotiating skills to get the best deal. They did pay for a couple of things (wheel bearing, turbo actuator), but refused others (egr valves).
What about Warranty Wise?
Any opinions welcome.

With the LR warranty I would say it depends on the relationship with your service manager.
My guys at GSTD assured me on my 2009my that I wouldn't know the difference between the full OEM warranty and the LR extended and that gave me complete peace of mind ...but I don't know if all dealerships think like that.
The other thing is that you don't have to faff paying or waiting for authorisations ...and you can continue LR Assist  21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I asked WD if they covered cars used off-road. They don't 
It wasn't just a case of they wouldn't cover something that broke whilst off-road, they wouldn't cover the car at all if it didn't stay on tarmac. MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added
MY2019 D5 HSE 3.0 SDV6 - sold to a dealer for a crazy price! - So good I bought another!
MY2012 D4 HSE 3.0 SDV6 - retired to a new home

Good question! So warranty Direct will void the warranty if I drive into a parking area (Field) at the local village Fair? I have had this issue with insurers as well, the staff all seem to live in urban environments not in the real world of the countryside.

As DG says; it appears to be down to the SM at the dealer you use Gareth, I have renewed the LR warranty every year since 2008 on mine and would do again if possible as it has been 100% in every aspect but I cannot as the motor is now ten years old  Might have a look at WD now as an alternative option myself to see whether it's worth having though. and theeeeennn......???

I'll shortly be in a similar position to the thread originator. Our D4 will be 3 years old at the beginning of November, but is relatively low mileage ( presently 18,000), and we're hoping to keep it for another 3 years. I haven't begun to investigate anything yet, but we purchased it second hand from a main dealer, and the car was an ex Land Rover management car ( allegedly!) would we qualify for an extended L.R. warranty, and what sort of price would it be?
Any advice gratefully received.

Their T&C's also don't cover modified vehicles, but also don't define it.
So if you fit RRS wheels on your D3 are they going to refuse a claim on the electric windows? Or just the drivetrain?
I'm looking at WD for my Amarok, but run D4 wheels - do I have to put the VW wheels back on if it breaks down?

I went down the LR Route in Jan.
Have had no need to claim yet, so no feedback on that side.
Looking at costs from LR and Warranty Direct, WD looked to be slightly cheaper, but then did not provide any breakdown cover, which LR do. Reckon the European cover has to be worth about 150-200, but then if not going to Europe waste of money for you.
It might be worth inquiring if your local LR dealer provide warranty deals, mine did and looked a good deal compared to WD D4 Landmark MY16 Santorini Black THE LAST

Ok, good point re the LR Assist. I have RAC policy for the family, and for the 'other' cars I drive (old Land Rovers) and my sons Fiesta, so LRA is not really needed for me as it stands now. Although the RAC cover is not cheap.
I've hardly ever used it, but I just know that the moment I cancel it, the bottom will drop out of my motoring world!!

WD will cover off-road use, I got this clarified when I took out my policy. It's just the normal no rallys, time-trials etc. that they won't cover. They will also do genuine parts.
There's plenty of posts on here on what you should be getting (and insisting on) with a WD policy and how to get a good deal, worth spending a while taking a look through them.
I know some have issues with WD but if you're honest with them and play by their rules they provide a decent service. My policy's over the last 5 years have more than paid for themselves, including almost £3k they have just paid out (cheque received 2 days after submitting claim) for my D3's replacement navigation computer.
Other than being a little more expensive on average I don't remember seeing anything bad said about LR policies either The End
