False alarm parking sensors |
|
G'day, I am very very pleased with my '05 V8 HSE - it is the best car I have ever owned and there have been 30+ in my fleet to now. I wonder if there are others out there who have experienced the same issue as this one.
Sporadically I get the alarm tone from the front sensors indicating that the proximity sensor has recognised something close. This occurs when I am stationary and there is NO MOVEMENT by anything - ie at traffic lights even on the front row of the lights sitting in D and nothing around me. It just goes off - for a lengthy continuous beep - sometimes many seconds long.
The dealer has had this raised to them on two previous occassions and reported "nothing found to be at fault - monitor and report back next time".
I've escalated this to get something positive done to correct it as you can't make it happen on demand - just like many ailments in cars.
I'd appreciate if any of you fellows out there have experienced similar occurences and if there is a common fix for this.
Regards

I used to have front PDC until I had the ARB BB fitted.
I too got the alarm but it was due to a passing car, person, water spray etc.
It never went off without something visibly passing the sensors.

My front alarm goes off if I'm stationary in traffic and a motorbike moves anywhere in the same postcode!

I had this problem. Went to the dealer and stopped doing it. Dealer said unable to find fault. The fault came back, but then stopped and has not come back again for a few months. However, I now have the rear coming on as soon as i select reverse and the light flashing on the dash. It also beeps all on its own even when in drive. The fault at the moment is permanent, goes for second service in a weeks time, lets hope it is still there.
