the replacement fbh was of an early discovery 4, but is the same model of fbh, just test the ground side of the fbh connection & that is fine , will test the pins now !

I had exactly the same problem with the original unit i took off, i can reconnect it to try it again but im not hopeful, the units are both marked up as ttv - no mention of evo on them ?

As flatlander says, it is NOT the same! Same shape, yes, but different model, like the difference between the D3 and the D4 themselves Cool

Most important difference: the D4 uses different CAN-bus speed than the D3, so does the FBH…

So that D4 one, is NOT to be seen, let even manage, over the CAN-bus from a D3..

TT EVO (not V EVO) are different connectors to TTV and V EVO.

D3 TTV and D4 TTV EVO not compatible with each other.

A D4 FBH won’t operate on a D3. And vice versa.

What model? Your screenshot doesn’t tell us anything.

If it’s from a D4 it won’t work on a D3, which is why you’re getting that comms error.

Swap the main PCB over from your D3 heater.

Edit: photo added after my comment above. You’ve only sent the label from the D3 heater (build date in 2004).

If it’s a D4 heater it won’t be the same part number. The model may be the same but doesn’t mean it’ll work. You can get a TTV for a VW but that doesn’t work on D3 either…

Your D4 heater may be a TTV. Some very very early D4 had TTV but they are programmed to communicate with a D4 and, again, don’t work on a D3.

yes - i stand corrected, i have removed the fbh & the wiring in the internal plugs is different, so back to the drawing board with the original fbh - ive just stripped it to check if it was full of carbon, it is brand new inside, like it has never worked !

FIXED

Well, all working now, can now test & pick it up with my iid tool, original unit wouldn't work , iid tool didn't pick it up either, so I got another fbh from a discovery 3 , fitted it , re- connected the fuel line & its now working.
I'm guessing original unit had an electrical fault in the circuit board, handy to keep it for spares incase I ever need a burner etc.
