I'm still waiting for it to come back. Was meant to be Friday, apparently the wrong parts were delivered.
LR have had it just over 3 weeks and in that time they've had to diagnose the problem, make the case to LR that they should pay, get the work done.
I should get it back this week, I'm under the impression it's a rotated shell starving crank of oil. Whatever that means, I'm no engineer. I get the gist though.
I'll post up when I get it back.

Maybe you guys can help me out so I'm armed with a little knowledge.

If I'm having a 'short motor' replaced, what's getting replaced?

Afaik, the block stays, the moving parts get replaced, can anyone give me a quick list of these parts? Does it include injectors, belts, etc?

Normally a short motor is the cylinder block, crankshaft, con rods, pistons and the associated big end and main bearings, it may or may not include a new oil pump. Everything else is transferred from your old engine. I would recommend that you insist on a new oil pump and cam belt as part of the rebuilding of the engine.

I think the D3 short block does have the oil pump attached, from pics I was looking at a while ago. Thumbs Up

Apparently the parts LR ordered were incorrect and there were bolts missing. The parts were supposedly despatched today so it's anyone's guess.
Meanwhile I've just had a Taylor Spatial Frame removed from my leg so I'm now on two crutches. I really could do with my car back! It looks like my first estimate of 6 weeks will be roughly correct.

I guess you weren't able to drive with the Taylor Spatial Frame fitted, but presume you are OK to drive now.

Either way good luck with both the car & your continued recovery.

At first no, but once I could walk without crutches I was fine driving manual and auto. Now I've got a large removable boot on which precludes me from manuals.

I'm beginning to forget what my car is actually like!

Well today I've just gone and picked my car up with the new engine fitted. 8 weeks since I bought it, 7 weeks in the dealer!
I've been using a 2010 HSE as a replacement and really noticed the difference driving my 8 speed home.
The garage have been great and went out of their way to get me sorted, it's a shame the dealer that did the work didn't have the same sense of urgency. I haven't got the full print out of the work done yet, garage owner has gone on holiday today so will sort it when he's back.
Feels weird having this strange car back, and I'll definitely miss the keyless entry and reversing camera!
